New look
I went to the FMCA in Indy this week and found some things I just couldn't live without. I'm new to all this and was really overwhelmed by the whole thing. What a great group and great week. The vendors where dealing and the fellowship was warm and educational. So many seminars wow! Here are a few of the additions.
Awnings on the windows and snap on sunshades for the slide outs. I like them. Sun Pro did them at the show and matched the OEM Carefree products.

Nice. I have a roll of shade material I bought from Sportsman's Guide when it was on sale. I might have to make some screens for mine.

Hard to tell I did work them a bit had it all done for about 900. I'd have to look at the receipt to be exact. They cruise the parking lots before the show and start taking orders. I ordered them on Saturday and they put them on on Monday then I decided to do the covers for the slide out and he put them on on Wednesday. Makes a big difference with the heat. He said I could leave them on when I close the slide but I took them off. It just seems like to much wear on the covers and the seals. On and off in a couple of minutes.

Phil, Those look outstanding! I have to get them for our coach. I'll going to go look and see if I can find a sun pro dealer down here in GA. Not sure I want to wait until I get back up north next spring.

Marc we sure like them and it really made a difference keeping the MH cooler. I was impressed with how Sun Pro worked at the rally. Two day lead and it was installed. We also got the drop for the main awning, not sure about that yet. It may be more hassle than its worth. We bought the 6' drop and it rolls up in the awning. They said to remove it only for winter storage. We are still playing with it to see if we will like it.

We have a 6' drop and have tried to roll it up with the awning and the motor will not lift it on the 20' awning on the 831RLSS and or on the 15' on our new 5er. I even split it down to 10' sections and again into 7.5' sections and it will not even lift a single 10' or a 7.5' section. We store them in separate tubes under the trailer.

We bought the drop from the Care Free booth at the Indy FMCA and they promised it would work and not unfold on the road. I still am a bit nervous but it rolls up nice and seems tight enough to stay put.
My guess is mine is a 17' awning and I bet they use the same motor as the 20' on yours. My other option was to do a 3' drop with a 7' zip on that is from Sun Pro. I have a hard time lifting my arms over my head and the zip on would have been hard for me to do.

Both of ours were/is Dometic AE the tt was 20' and the 5er is a 15'. The 20' wouldn't lift a 10' pc and the 15' won't lift a 7.5'. Must be different awnings and definitely different motors or torsion springs. I don't worry about the awning coming unfurled on the highway, I made a simple lock to hold it.
