Mine has a single LNB, but when I change channels to a different "bird" the antenna quickly moves to the new sat location. VERY quick, you don't even notice a delay.

However, you DO hear it move, and for some reason, even with the Rec powered off, it will move randomly several times per day; like maybe once an hpour. Don't know what it's doing or why, but it sounds funny at 2:00 AM when almost everybody is asleep and I get up for a biffy call.

Anyone know how to locate the satellite prep cable in the roof? I am trying to figure out how to make a connection to a portable dish.

On my 2014 Silverback, there was a small sticker on the roof that said something to the effect "satellite cables under here". The sticker was about 4 inches & round. I cut through the sticker and fished the satellite cables out with a wire. There was already about a 1 inch diameter hole in the roof under the sticker.

The three cables on mine were the satellite control box cable and two coax leads.

If you've already walked your roof and found no markings or sticker, I would guess that your rig is NOT pre-wired for satellite. Just my 2 cents.

It appears that the Dish Network is out for me because they cannot provide network channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX) when on the road. They said that they use to have provided it and now they suggest to use your over the air antenna.

With that said, does anyone know if Direct TV can provide network at remote locations? Their Sales say yes, but I'm not sure to believe them.

If satellite cannot provide network, I am contemplating the Sling Box.

I would double check on the Dish Network and local network channels. I had locals turned on in Feb with no problems and then again in mid march after we moved north to Bowling Green KY still have them. I do agree it would be a deal breaker for me. I us the Tailgaiter with DN and it works great. I only can watch one channel but noy a issue for me.

I have the roof mounted automatic wineguard slimline travlr on my 14 390BH and love it! Finds all three satellites for directv so I get all my locals and all of my other channels and they are all in HD! Does take longer than the dome type dishes to acquire satellites but that is because it tunes into all three. I've yet to lose signal in rain or a storm like the dome types and I have not had an issue yet finding satellites in covered areas like I did with the dome. Just this past weekend I was in Martinsville for the race and parked at the bottom of a hill with complete tree cover in front of me. I was never able to get satellite service here in the past with my old camper with the dome. This time acquired all three satellites with a signal strength of 97!!! Best dish I've ever had and again, you get HD and all your local channels! Hope this helps.

Just so I'm clear... do you use an auxiliary device (iPhone app, inline signal meter, etc.) to align the satellite antenna or do you just adjust the antenna until you get the 97?

The wineguard travlr slimline is an automatic satellite dish mounted on my roof. All I do is turn the power on inside my coach and that's it. It automatically finds all three satellites and tunes each one in for max signal.

Thanks. You can see I'm not technically up to speed or I would have noticed all your "automatic" keywords and clues!!

Dish network cannot provide local or major network channels. Direct TV told me that they can and you have confirmed that for me.

Dish provides me both the local channels for where we are and they include the national networks. If you are assuming you can get your (home town) channels outside of the local spot beam that is incorrect. Once you leave the area of the spot beam, you will not recieve that signal.

I am not looking for my home town local, but local where I am camping so that I can get network channels from that local. You say that you are receiving local, but are you frequently moving to new locations and receiving local? The Pay As You Go program is aimed at RV's and RV's do roam around and I would like the local to roam with me. Dish says they will not do that from what I have been told. Dish even has a separate web site for this program, namely www.dishformyrv.com.

Not sure how large the spot beam is, but with direct tv, I live in VA and have traveled up and down the east coast and have still gotten my local VA channels. I have not gone west though so maybe it is because I am still on the east coast. But direct tv will give you local channels in your current area with a quick phone call I've heard. Haven't had to do that though yet.

I-RV: we have dish network, pay-as-you go, have a tailgater and purchased 211k reciever. We have recieved local stations from the keys to the northwest in washington and even got locals when in Alasaka, just not in Canada. when we move, we call dish and request that our "service" address changed for our new location.

JTN8: For direct TV, they have a total of 55 spot beams in the US covering different markets. You can google direct TV spot beams or dish spot beams and there are maps available that show what beams cover what area. Some spot beams cover a large area, some do not. As a example our last trip, we changed our "service address" to San Diego, CA location as was still getting it in Las Vegas NV, however once we changed our service address to Las Vegas, only got the Las Vegas local stations.

Where we live, CO, northern CO gets the Denver stations, southerm CO get Colorado Springs stations.

Not saying one is better than other, have Dish, pay-as-you-go RV account in MH and have direct TV at home. We travel about 6 months a year and suspend direct account when not home, and stop dish when at home. No reason to pay for both at same time.

I have a Tailgater as well, we don't use Dish at home so we use the pay-as-you-go thingy... I just call and give them my zip code, and they sent me that area's locals. You could add national locals to your account, for a fee.

I don't know if it has gotten better with Dish setup operators, but you use to need to ask for an RV specialist. The regular operators didn't have a clue as to how that system works.

We have dish at home and in the MH. We take our receiver with us and keep a portable dish in the rig. Call dish when we get to our RV site and get the local channels for that area. Just wrapping up a trip around the USA and did this for 10
months. Worked like a champ. When we get home we take the receiver into the house and hook it up and we are good to go.
