Oil change time!
I'm changing the engine oil/filter in my Berkshire 340bh this evening. Shouldn't be too tough, but figured I'd post about it!

Finally got to this today. 16 qts of oil, a new filter, and got the old oil dumped. No issues, other than *almost* starting to unscrew the main fuel filter instead of the oil filter! (Hey, it was first time to change the oil...don't laugh!)
All in all, not bad...$11 for the filter and $48 for the oil...plus I didn't have to drive it somewhere to have it done.
Though it's nice to know about what it would have cost me. I'm thinking to have the trans fluid and filter changed by someone else, but we'll see!

What year is your MH that you need the Trans fluid changed? Just curious. I think it is a 5 year thing but I haves looked lately.

Trans fluid is good for 300000 miles. All you need to do is change the filter. For those with the 2500 transmission it is filter Allison 29539579 or Fram P9264. Will only loose what is in the filter. Just replace the filter amount when done.
The 3000 transmission has two filters but I do not know their numbers.
It is the radiator fluid that is good for five years. Of course if you get a new radiator like I am the fluid gets changed automatically. Sort of a tough way to go however.

I just had the full service on the chassis, engine plus filters and generator plus filters and full chassis lube just the other day. The mechanic (owner) left this card with me. These are the updated intervals recommended by the manufacturers

That's a slick card, Paulie Boy!
My Berk is a 2008. I'm the second owner, and bought it with 10k miles on it. It's 19.5k now, so I'm late on the 15k oil change! :-)
According to the years I need to do a trans fluid/filter change, but I may wait until 25k. I always have a tough time changing fluids on the time interval when the mileage is so low!
Speaking of chassis lube...does anyone have a sheet of lube points?

The tranny lube depends on the Dexron III in the older models and the TranSynd in the later models. I'm not sure when they started using the TranSynd but I was told my 2014 had it.

They started using the TranSynd in '08. I know this because my '08 had TranSynd in the transmission.

I have read that FL ships the chassis with no Trans fluids in it. The fluid is drained after assembly and test and shipped dry. The manufacturer in this case FR fills them at delivery. I don't think it makes sense and I wonder if anyone knows if this is true.

I get a feeling from this thread and others that many do not follow the Freightliner and Allison services schedules either knowingly or unknowingly. I agree that it is every owners individual decision concerning service, but I'd like to point out that while the large items like the engine and tranny are under warranty, should anything go wrong, the owners service records may be inspected.
As for this thread, the Allison 2500MH (which I have) should have its fluid changed (having Transynd TES-295) every 300,000 mi or 48 mo. Note that Mobil Delvac fluid can be used. The filter should be changes every 24 months if Prognostics are not turned on. Although my rig is a 2012, I called Allison with the tranny serial and I do not have Prognostics.
As for the Freightliner chassis and Cummins, service schedules have been supplied. I am attaching a 48 month schedule as an example. I have found that most truck service shops and even Freightliner dealers do not follow the Freightliner schedules, however Freightliner Oasis Service Centers do. I was given a service price from one local Freightliner service and then when I presented the service sheet; was given a much higher price - LOL
I feel that service decisions is each owners prerogative, but I suggest it should be a well informed decision with all the facts. - Hank
