The white lens attracts more bugs. IMHO

I just replaced the fixture with a motion sensor star light 1000, comes with a 200 lum led bulb and a clear and orange lens. I think I paid 55.00 or so, But it's nice when you come back at night the sensor could pick you up at 50' and turn on then go back off in about 3 mins. Plus any one that comes near your door at night it will light up. It has an adjustable distance screw so you can set it at 10' if you want. Will not pick up small animals and such. If you don't want the motion sensor you can just use it as a light
On off and on again motion sensor or just on like the one installed same switch and two wires. Check Amazon or ebay.I put 4 on mine 2 porch lights added one and both scare lights those are the #2000...

I replaced my bulb with an LED and it's much brighter.

X2, after the bulb melted a hole in the top of the housing.

Joe I think I have the receipt someplace. I bought all my LED's at the frog rally from Rob Lowe. He has a business out if Canada and is very knowledgeable. He has a good product and good price. When buying LED's make sure you get all the same color so they look the same.

Just replaced------------

I just replaced my second Star Light 1000 with the new all LED updated
MG-1000-450. Much brighter and all flat card led light board with one UV
safe round dome 360° sensor.

Seems like the Star Light 1000 last about 2 years before failing.

That's because you keep hitting curbs. I have had mine for 4 years now, The only failure I had is that the lens cracked I think they are called Fensel or something they go over the motion sensor, they have changed that now and even sent me new ones free more UV resistance....

I have to agree with DAISY BOYKIN. I just replaced my 14 month old SL-1000 with another one. Wish I had known about the MG-1000-450. The failure mode of the SL-1000 was the red low battery voltage LED was lit and the light did not work. Pulled it off and measured the voltage with it still connected and got 13.4 volts.
