Well, we leave tomorrow for a 4 days trip where we will give the new freezer set-up its first test...

I plugged the freezer into both AC and DC yesterday afternoon and hit the FF switch (fast freeze) and within a few hours it was reading -10 degrees... Then reset temp to 10 degrees and placed some frozen ice cream bars in it for an over night test....

Went out after lunch today to check thing out and ice cream frozen solid and temp reads 12 degrees....

Just loaded it up with things we will need for the trip and of course with the lid up the temp went up to 17 degrees.... Closed it up and checked 15 min later and temp was back down to 10 degrees....

So far it looks like I'm going to really be pleased with it... Guess I will know more when I return Tuesday after running it on both AC and DC...

Ernest917, I have this in my basement... but think I might upgrade and go your way. Although this works great and was a cheap addition, I think you got something there! Gonna have to copy you too! :-)

Doc-

Would you mind sharing how you installed the fridge? Ernest, you did a great job and it looks great, just a bit beyond my price range. Would love to put a small fridge in the basement for the kids. Doc- where to you get the electricity from? Did you drill thru to the front compartment that had the outlet in it? Looks like you have it raised so you can open the door. Did you bolt a platform through the basement floor? I can also see a ratchet tie to keep is secured. Smart smart.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Mike

Mike -

Yepper. Super easy to do and easy to remove if you need to replace it for any reasons. I had to pull mine out for a little but while we installed one of those Central Vacum systems... Now that was a cool add on. My coach is in the shop right now having a new cooling unit put on the Dometic Frig so it's not at a spot I can get to it to shoot some pics for you and give you the 411. In short... yes it is raised and carpet wrapped. The block under the frig is attached to the basement and the staps are under the bottom of the base and wrap over the frig. 110 is done through an extension cord actually and run from the basement where we have the TV. If you can wait until the end of the week I'll get you a complete diagram, parts list and photos to walk you through. Take a trip to home depot, buy a small frig and your done for no real money at all.

On your 2014 did you get the outside TV as well?

Doc-

I appreciate all the help. No rush. We head out for summer travels on July 8, so I have plenty of time to get it done before then. A parts list and inside tips in the install would be much appreciated. Yes, we have the outside TV on the 2014.

Thanks again-

Mike

Mike -

Right on! We are leaving for a 7 day trip to Yosemite and then the Santa Cruz Redwoods on Friday morning. I'll try to get it to you before then or maybe while we are on the road. No worries.... My pleasure. Happy to share the news!

You da man, Jason! Thank you! Enjoy Yosemite and the Redwoods. We are headed there this summer. Can't wait to see half-dome and the Giant trees.

Safe travels!

TEST RUN 100% SUCCESSFUL..... YEA!!!!! AC/DC worked perfectly.... I took a gal of ice cream and it stayed frozen SO we were able to have our A&W Root beer floats which made momma really happy....

It was totally wort the time, money and effort required to "get er done"...
