Power awning over door

I have a carefree power awning over my entrance door. It's about 4' wide. It is malfunctioning and will only open about half way right now. Any idea why it would be doing this and how one could repair it ? Thanks...Ron

does the motor stay running but the awning stops ?
does the motor bog down then stop ?

No the motor stops as if it right open all the way. It also don't really blog but seems to be working alittle extra hard. Thanks Ron

the motor has to be geared to the awning i would think ? never had one apart.
so i am wondering if there is an obstruction in the motors gear housing .

most 12v motors do not have enough torque to operate directly so they need a gear housing to step down the gear ratio to be able to spin out the awning.

my unit for the main awning "sounds" geared down as it rolling out .

Thanks. I'll have to look this up for a manual etc. Almost like a shut off switch that stops its before it opens ?? That is what it seems like. Otherwise it works fine.
