Questions for 390RB Owners

We are now set up in Edinburg, Tx. for the winter and this is our first extended stay in the coach. I have a couple of questions.

1. Does the outside handle have a light in it. If so does it come on with the porch light switch? I don't want to take it apart if there isn't a light in it.

2. When I put the step switch on at night the light comes on with but the steps go in and out when the door is opened. Is there a way for the light to stay on without the steps working?

I am asking these questions because my last coach apparently is wired differently and doesn't work the same way.

The steps operate automatically when the door opens and with the switch in "on" but stay out with the step switch in "off". My light comes on when the door opens, goes off when the door closes. The steps WILL retract when the ignition comes on, so I leave the switch in "off" at all times so the steps stay out which reduces wear and tear on the mechanism. (There are plenty of known incidences of the motor burning out, or the gears on the mechanism stripping..... I carry a spare motor)

There is no way to have the light on permanently without rewiring it. You could tie it in to the aisle path lighting fairly easily as there is a light right inside the door where the passenger's right foot is. Tying it into the porch light can be done too, I would work my way to the back of the switch panel for that.

The door handle on mine is lit, comes on with the aisle path lighting, first switch on the left on my bus.

From what I hear on this forum for 2014 FR took that $7.00 LED light out but all the wiring is still there. I took the handle off, all wires were easily accessible and I put one in and it works fine. It is controlled by the isle light switch.

This is exactly correct for the 2014 390rb.

For the step light, I added an LED strip that comes on anytime the door is open. I did a write-up up on it on this forum.
