Recall Notice

Just received a recall notice for FCCC X-Line Chassis brake signal diode jumpers.
XC and XB chassis manufactured 1/21/10 thru 9/20/12 with certain Nexans autoelectric of America diode jumpers. I have no idea what all this means. I called Daimler trucks and I will be taking it to Orange County Freightliner in New Windsor, NY near Newburgh (the closet freightliner repair shop for me) for repairs when I take the unit out of storage. The repair requires about 1 hour of work.

Hey Debbie,

Glad to see you around.

We got our notice also but we'll have to wait until April when we pull ours out of storage. I hope there won't be an issue waiting that long, but tax season and salt on the roads will keep mine in storage until April.

Ed

Happy New Year Ed,
When I called they stated they were aware that a lot of the units are in storage and getting it fixed in the spring will be ok. Have you gotten a lot of snow upstate? So far its been pretty mild downstate. Look forward to getting on the road this year and meeting people from the forum.

I had mine done by LA Freightliuner last week and the wire was hanging by a few strands which they replaced.

It worries me that your wire was hanging by a thread. I am thinking about having freightliner look over my whole unit when I take it in. I plan to take it in March.

louincal,
Where was the wire that was hanging by a thread. I'm not part of the recall but would like to check my coach to see if there is any problem.
Thanks

Freightliner Recall

The tech was working in the front of the coach under the steering wheel. He showed me the clip thad had been inproperly crimped it was hanging by afew strands of the braided wire. They also found a recall from Cummins on the def. This entailed a a resetting of the computer. The whole thing took about 2 hrs.

I am assuming he was inside the coach and not outside.

He was inside, fom what I could see, as they did not allow me in the work area. When he showed me the crimp he said he was working under the steering wheel and apologized for inadvertly honking the horn.

I had the recall done today while getting my coach serviced. Apparently the recall is to inspect the diode and specifically the connection. My coach was fine and no recall work needed to be done.

The work area is up under the steering wheel on the inside of the coach. The tech said the Berkshire's and Fleetwood's are easy to do. The Tiffin's, according to the tech, is a PITA to do the recall on.
