Removing Carbon Monoxide Sensor Cover

My carbon monoxide sensor in the bedroom chirps occasionally and probably needs a battery. The round sensor's cover indicates the direction to turn to remove. The trouble is that it will not turn and I am afraid of breaking it. There is a button on top that I tried. Your help will be much appreciated.
Hank

Hank,
The button on the top is actually a peg that holds the CO detector cover. Pull that peg up to remove it and you should be able to get the cover off.

Thank you Tom. I knew it was something simple. I decided to ask first instead of breaking it.

Good move Hank. I have destroyed a few things because of "idiotic intuition"

Depending on the amount of chirps it gives will determine what's wrong with it. Mine was chirping, thought it was the battery. It wasn't. It was chirping to let me know the whole unit had to be changed.

This doesn't apply to CO detector, but the propane one. Posting because I found this funny. And who knows, maybe an answer for someone
