Roadside Service Programs

The time is near to renew my roadside service program. I have been with Coach-Net for 5 years as a "Gold" member. Looks like they have changed their programs and now offer one called "Premier Towable" which seems to match the previous Gold program. Problem is that the annual cost has gone up from $89 per year to $129 per year. I see FMCA offers a similar program to the "Premium Towable" one from Coach-Net for $109 per year. Anyone have any personal experience with the FMCA program? Knowing that FMCA is a quality association, I would think it would be ok. Would like to hear from anyone who has the FMCA program or any personal experience with it. Thanks.

I guess I don't understand.
With a Berkshire, I didn't think it would be under their 'towable' plans.

I just renewed the $89 'motorized' plan on coachnet.

Ditto. Coach Net has a wide variety of plans - everything from a basic roadside assistance to a complete wrap plan that includes towing, lodging & even a medical evacuation plan.

Recommend you get with Coach-net (via email even) and let them know what you would like - they will tailor a plan to your needs (something FMCA & Good Sam do not do)

So I have Roadside Assistance via my insurance policy (Progressive) which looks to cover virtually all of what CoachNet or Good Sam claim to cover with roughly the same exclusions. I pay $25/year for this.

What am I missing?? I also signed up for Good Sam last year being scared that I might need a tow sometime if a tire went flat not realizing I already paid Progressive for the same thing.

Here's the language of my coverage in case you were interested:

PART V - ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE COVERAGE
INSURING AGREEMENT
If you pay the premium for this coverage, we will pay for our authorized service representative
to provide the following services when necessary due to a covered emergency:

1. towing of a covered disabled vehicle to the nearest qualified repair facility; and
2. labor on a covered disabled vehicle at the place of disablement.
If a covered disabled vehicle is towed to any place other than the nearest qualified
repair facility, you will be responsible for any additional charges incurred.
Important notice about coverage limitations: Please read the exclusions listed in
this Part V carefully. If an exclusion applies, coverage will not be afforded under this
Part V.
ADDITIONAL DEFINITIONS
When used in this Part V:
1. “Covered disabled vehicle” means:
a. a covered vehicle for which this coverage has been purchased that sustains
a covered emergency;
b. any trailer or motor vehicle while being towed by a covered vehicle for which
this coverage has been purchased that sustains a covered emergency; or
c. any motor vehicle that is customarily towed by a covered vehicle for which
this coverage has been purchased, that sustains a covered emergency
while such covered vehicle is parked and being used as your residence.
2. “Covered emergency” means a disablement that is a result of:
a. mechanical or electrical breakdown;
b. battery failure;
c. insufficient supply of fuel, oil, water, or other fluid;
d. flat tire;
e. lock-out; or
f. entrapment in snow, mud, water, or sand, within 100 feet of a road or highway.
27
EXCLUSIONS - READ THE FOLLOWING EXCLUSIONS CAREFULLY. IF AN
EXCLUSION APPLIES, COVERAGE WILL NOT BE AFFORDED UNDER THIS
PART V.
Coverage under this Part V will not apply to:
1. the cost of purchasing parts, fluid, lubricants, fuel, or replacement keys, or the labor
to make replacement keys;
2. installation of products or materials not related to the disablement;
3. labor not related to the disablement;
4. labor on a covered disabled vehicle for any time period in excess of 60 minutes
per disablement;
5. towing or storage related to impoundment, abandonment, illegal parking, or other
violations of law;
6. assistance with jacks, levelers, airbags, or awnings;
7. towing from a service station, garage, or repair shop;
8. labor or repair work performed at a service station, garage, or repair shop;
9. vehicle storage charges;
10. a second service call or tow for a single disablement;
11. disablement that occurs on roads not regularly maintained, sand beaches, open
fields, or areas designated as not passable due to construction, weather, or earth
movement;
12. mounting or removing of snow tires or chains;
13. tire repair;
14. repeated service calls for a covered disabled vehicle in need of routine maintenance
or repair; or
15. disablement that results from an intentional or willful act or action by you, a relative,
or the operator of a covered disabled vehicle.

Mark,
What you, in my opinion are missing, is the fact that with a specialty company such as Coachnet and I assume Good Sam, is that when you call them they can walk you through some test procedures to try and remedy your issue. I had an issue with my slide out and they walked me through a few tests and we finally determined that I would need assistance. They contacted a mobil tech who came out and looked at the slide. Also, the people that you speak with are usually technically versed in recreational vehicles. Don't know if you get that with the policy you have. Coachnet and Good Sam do more than just getting you a tow service if you have a flat.
JMHO.

Of course, now you just need to follow it and Get Coach-Net (a better deal than Good Sam IMO)
