RVQD 8K Gen repair question

I am being told the fuel pump on my genny is likely bad and the repair process will take 5-6 hours to include removing the generator from the coach. Is this possible? Just doesn't sound right.

Are you taking your unit to a RV dealer or Cummins/OMAN dealer?

A Cummins dealer - large, regional one. I know they are probably right but their info conflicts with a smaller Cummins dealer who said it was an easy, quick fix. (The 1st dealer looked at it and said it was a software issue-pump was ok).
So, if the current dealer is right then the 1st one just blew me off when they realized the job was bigger. Don't know what else to think. Just wary now especially with the current dealer unable to guarantee they can even do it in one day.

Big difference between a software update and pulling the generator and changing the fuel pump. Any way you can get a third opinion?

In 2012 I brought my 2010 in for a generator starting problem. Warranty covered the $2100 repair(parts and labor). Youre 2014 should be covered.

Definitely covered by warranty - just trying to determine why its 5-6 hours to replace fuel pump. According to dealer it will take 2 hours to remove gen from coach , 1 hour to replace pump , 2 hours to reinstall it in coach. Worst part is they can't guarantee they can finish in one day.

Good news! Genny is fixed with new fuel pump - took 2.5 hours since they only had to unbolt and slide it forward instead of completely remove. Also letting them do complete services. Should be good to go soon!

Had the same issue with my '14 390 fl60. Had it fixed at the Elkhart factory while I was having other warranty work done.

Seems like a number of generators in the '14 model year Berkshires have faulty fuel pumps. For those whose fuel pumps failed, can you tell me approx. how many hours were on the generator before the pump failed? Also, what date did you take delivery of your coach? I'm hoping that the problem was corrected in the coaches manufactured late in the year. I will be taking a trip in June and will most likely need the generator so that I can run the roof a/c's while traveling and wouldn't want to have the pump fail on my trip. I only have about 2 hrs on the generator now.
Thanks,
Tom
