SAFE-T-Alert light out Berkshire 39A

Safe-T-Alert light out (RV Carbon Monoxide/Propane Gas Detector) with no propane working with full tank has this happen to anyone...Also Level Monitor(Precision Circuits Plex) out with message No Digi-Level Module Com. Not good with Berkshire 2018 first trip????

I would check behind it for loose wires or in line fuse first

Mine has a fuse just off the battery that feeds the alarm. As above: fuse or connection. The alarm on ours went toes up at three years and we replaced it just recently. There are some pretty informative threads on similar issues on the forum so you may want to do a search.

The more I learn about the PrecisionPlex system the more I realize it's a computer. Happens to be connected to an RV, but that's secondary.

Soooo.... Reboot it. Turn all house power of and watch it go dark. All of it. Give it a few minutes and reboot. See if that helps.

If not you need to get yourself a multi meter (first aid tool for RV's/boats and cars) and see if there's power to the sniffer.

If there isn't there's DIRECT power to the thing from the battery. Somewhere in the electrical compartments in back (inverter compartment on mine YMMV) there's a 5A in line fuse.... Check it.

The sniffer may have gone bad. Some do that after a few years, some sooner.

The sniffer sends power to the solenoid (next to the shutoff valve on the tank) when "it" decides all is OK.

If the sniffer is whacked out, the solenoid doesn't open. There IS a way to bypass that. If you don't know how, you probably don't want to get into that.

If all of the above is Greek to you you'll need to wait until the FR people get back from their holiday weekend and get through to them. May take a few days. After that things may go efficiently or they may not.

If the propane detector has no power (light out) and the fuse at the (house? )battery that feeds the detector is blown you'll need to determine what's happening. If I remember correctly, that's a 5A fuse. Replace the fuse with a 10A ammeter and check the current flow before replacing the fuse. (Harbor Freight digital meters - free with coupon - have a 10A scale.) If the current draw is over 4A, you probably have a shorted solenoid that's located at the propane tank.



The RV repair for this problem is to get a replacement detector/solenoid kit. You'll need to have an RV repair service do the work because it's likely that the "exact replacement" part will have a solenoid with different sized fittings on it. Adapters to mate to the existing fittings will solve this problem.


If your detector is less than five years old, you can plastic bag the new detector and keep it until your current one reaches the end of its service life. I did this with mine and just recently installed it.



When my solenoid burned out for the second time, I was able to locate a replacement on eBay. I'd strongly recommend AGAINST replacing it yourself unless you have prior experience working with gas lines.

Regardless of the fix, I highly recommend sending your PrecisionPlex screen back to the company to get it upgraded to the 2019 software ($50). I sent mine in on a Monday, they fixed it Tuesday and had it back Wednesday! Three things this upgrade does: First, it relabels the "LP Heater" button to "Water Heater" which ends a whole lot of confusion. Second, it provides a new circular temperature control display. But, here's the big thing: it adds the ability to turn off the A/C & heat pump ceiling blower while furnace is on. This prevents the cold air from pouring out of the ceiling while the furnace is providing warm air from the floor vents. This has been a major cold weather irritant for many of us PrecisionPlex owners. (BTW - We have a 2018 38A)

Yes it is blowing the fuse line (5a good memory) to the battery. Replace it back to normal for about hour. Now it is just blowing right away. I try to follow the line but seem impossible. I'm hoping it is a short but this time of year tough getting it fix.......love the suggesting the more the better. How do you take out the PrecisionPlex for and upgrade? Do you have a address and number Vince?

Disconnect power supply from sniffer. You can hook up a light fixture to "see" what's going on and have a load. See if the fuse still blows. Probably not and that clears the wiring to the sniffer.

Then it's the sniffer itself.

At this point I will try finding a short or another Safe-T-Alert with a RV mobile service at the house. I hoping we can find a short in the wire or a new unit. If any ideas out there I will try......
