So the $6 is for a second receiver. I have cable at home so I guess that I would need a new, full price subscription for the service if I only have it in my motor home. I guess that could get pretty costly for the service for only a few months a year.

As I stated in post #11, you can get satellite service on a pay as you go basis without any fees. See --------------

One of the problems I will run into is that with our Directv DVR we record everything in advance and watch everything 2 0r 3 weeks later. If I get a 2nd box I can't watch my recorded shows from our home box. I don't want to watch shows out of sequence.
I might have to get a SlingBox so I can watch my record stuff from our home DVR via the Internet in the trailer. Of course I would need internet service from the RV park if they have it. Life gets complicated : ) Oh yeah, if I take my home DVR with me on the RV then it would be recording our favorite shows because it has to maintain a internet connection 100% of the time.

Why? If you had a 2nd box, it would have the same program card as the primary box. I don't record, so that part I don't have to deal with.

Which DirecTv DVR "has to" maintain an internet connection? I have used just about all of them and none required an internet connection. Sure, an internet connection is nice for recording or watching web-based programming, but it is not required for programming from the three satellites.

I'm trying to watch what was previously recorded on my home DVR via my trailer somewhere in USA. Sure I can take my home DVR with but nothing will be recording while its not connected to the internet so any future shows will not be recorded.
The only way around this is watch Directv "On-Demand" via my PC in my trailer.
You have the option to watch whatever episode. The disadvantage is not all shows are available "On- Demand".

If it is like most dvr's (digital video recorders), the recording is done on a hard drive, much the same as the hard drive in your computer. That is the way my tivo operates.

I have an Apple TV box. Maybe I will take it with in my RV so when I get a Internet wireless connection I can watch Apple TV.
I wonder if these TV they put in the RV's if they have wireless capabilities, if not I will have to replace them with wireless TV's or connect them to a wireless hub or router?

The internet at CG is usually to slow to watch a movie. If you have your own, eats a lot of data unless you have an open no limit plan!

Yes, a smart TV is is todays technology, I hope my new RV TV isn't from the 90's : )
I know I can use hotspot from my iPhone and my laptop with connect wirelessly to my cell phone for the internet connection, but that could be expensive. But if the RV park has wireless internet (usually slow if its free) I can download my tv shows from Directv's on-demand and watch it after it has loaded on my PC. The next thing would be to connect my laptop to my RV TV so I can see it on a bigger screen.
I guess I watch too much TV : )
