so some thoughts from a hvac guy- Have your ac charge checked- its very important- The air conditioner compressor has oil in it. That oil will travel through the system and return with the Freon, but if you system is low on charge, there is not enough velocity / volume of Freon to bring the oil back to the compressor. The the compressor runs out of oil and you know what happens next.
The problem is not the compressor, it is the a/c compressor pulley bearing failing. When the pulley bearing fails, heat is created at the compressor hub and overheats the compressor shaft seals, causing refrigerant loss.
