Cool Service Light on Shifter is On??

I have a Berkshire 390 FL 2013. The service light indicator on the shifter has come on. I called Allison and they indicated that the tranny was due for service. I took it in and they hooked the computer up and it showed the tranny still had 94% oil life left. I had them change the spin on filter but he indicated that if the service light didn't go out that I would have to contact Arens Controls as they are the manufacture of the shifter and it is not an Allison shifter. I contacted them and they indicated that it could mean there is a faulty terminal. Has anyone experienced this?

Mike.

Hello Mike. I have not experienced this with my 2013 (yet) and sorry to hear that you are. How many miles on the coach and did the Arens folks elaborate at all on the "faulty terminal" guess at all? If they are willing to throw that out there without even seeing the coach I would suspect this is a known issue of some kind. -Glenn

They did tell me to take it back to Allison and have to the tech call them so they could walk them through the troubleshooting process. The coach only has 12,500 miles. I'm planning on looking at the connections this weekend.

Well good luck Mike. It might be an easy fix with just a loose connection somewhere.

The Allison tranny is warranted for 5 years. Be careful that there might be finger pointing to get out of the warranty. I would bet that Allison says the the control is not their responsibility.

Mike
If you are not past three years, if Allison won't cover it, then it has to be a chassis issue; namely Freightliner. Even if you are past three years, it would be interesting to see if Freightliner would have covered the shifter, or they say Allison.

Hope you get it figured out soon. I hate it when companies pass the buck to someone else.
Missed you both at the rally last week. Hope all is well.
