I wonder if something like the A&E Anti-Billow Stop could be made, or one could be adapted to fit the CareFree topper?

You can add top covers so that the roller is not exposed. Could not find a picture of them installed but here is a thread discussing them.

That's good info and I will start routinely checking those bolts on all my slide cover rollers in the future. However, the article doesn't indicate whether a partially loose bolt allows the spring to loosen. I suspect not since my cover rolls up as it should when I close the slide and stays reasonably taunt when the slide is out. I think this is addressing complete unwinding of the spring and separation of the roller...definitely a bad scenario. I think my spring tension is proper but the roller just needs a second spring for such a long slide

This could be the answer to my problem but Carefree says my slide cover unit is discontinued and I don't know if the replacement version would match the existing mounting holes in the rig. Also, that would be considerable expense to replace the entire assembly. Using bungee cords is more cost effective, just inconvenient

That's an interesting concept. I'm going to to look into that. If I understand the sketch it appears simple, effective and inexpensive.
Thanks

Thanks, my web search did not find an A&E stopper for Carefree slide toppers, but for $15 I'm tempted to order one and see if it would work. Couldn't find a website for A&E, just their retailers
