Slide Grease

I did a search and didn't find my answer. I was reviewing PM on my coach and found grease zerts on the slides. I never noticed them and after two years I would guess they are do for a little attention. What grease do you use? I would think just a all purpose grease would work. I will have to go buy a new grease gun and grease because my two are packed someplace in our 10x20 storage area.

Found those last week too. Haven't done anything and will wait until we get home. Will be interested in what to use also. Wonder what else I'm missing for maintenance?

I just bought some Moly-Lithium grease and a gun. We will see how it goes. Most likely over kill. Does anyone know if there are zerts inside like under the bed?

Oh my!

No grease on the slide mechanism please. Use a good dry lube.
Grease will attract dirt causing excessive wear and it most certainly dirty the bottom of your slide and ruin your carpet.

I guess if there are Zerks, grease is OK in your slide.

No what I'm talking about are in side the basement on the hydraulic slides. I had never seen them until this week. Click image for larger version

You are right. That bearing needs to be greased. I was thinking more along the lines of the ball jack, and rack and pinion types.

There is three on each side. I haven't seen any on the back slides yet. They were a bit dry. I can't get on the front drivers side in the LP bay. I will need my grinder to remove some of the frame to get it on.

Not the MH frame just one of the angle iron frame that holds the basement together. That doesn't sound much better does it. I will have to grind part if it or it can't be greased. A little at a time and it will be ok. Click image for larger version

As you can see it's very rusty. I will order the protect all and spray it down but I need to get grease in that bearing.

Well I feel better that I'm not the only one. I couldn't believe I missed them all this time. Hopefully no harm done.

Phil,
I greased them when I had my '08 coach. That one in the LP bay was a real bi**ch. I had to replace several of the zirk fittings on mine because they wouldn't take the grease. I guess I will need to start looking at my '14 soon as well.

45° fitting would work also.

OC that would work. I didn't have one but I had a hammer. Now it works.LOL. They should have put one there. It really didn't take much. 5or 6 good hits not like it had to be bent over. I just needed a 1/8" or so.

Send a message via MSN to Tiggerdad
I found 2 grease fittings on my electric front jacks the other day. Previous rig did not have them
