Something besides over weight issues!!!!

Anyone have a Carefree power awning? I think most Berks come with them.

Anyhow my 2011 awning has a problem starting to unroll SOME of the time. Once in awhile it unrolls just fine.

Rather I should say it unrolls OK, but the roller support arms don't swing out away from the coach; it just unrolls "in place".

Usually if I just wind it back up and start over a few times, it will eventually "break loose" and unroll properly.

Anyone else noticed this??

Boowho??

At first light, I would guess it was rolled up with the material not centered. Get it un-rolled and make sure it is centered on the roller and pop rivet (on the hem) it to the roller on both ends.

BooHoo

We have a 2011 390RB-60 with the Carefree power awning and have not experienced any issues to date. The Awning over the entry door has had the motor replaced once other than that no problems with awning.

Good Luck

I checked and it appears to be centered perfectly.

Thanks for the thought, though.

I wonder if the gas struts are getting weak.
That would be the first thing I would look at.

I assume its an electric awning ?

At least my over-the-door works fine.

Yes, it's electric and I'll be checking those struts.

Thanks

On my 2012 the Carefree awning does start to unroll before the arms start moving out. This puts some slack in the awning material and then about a foot out the arms catch up to the awning fabric. I would never have noticed this from the panel by the steps, but did see it when using my remote.

I don't see this as a issue and it could be a built in delay to keep the awning motor from burning up if something did fail on the roller?????

Other thoughts?

I would also check the arms for any signs of rubbing, binding or scrapping on something. Pivots need lubing.
