Suburban SF42F furnace

Furnace fires up for 1/2 min. Then shuts down. Can I fix this? Thanks

Could it be the thermostat is not calling for heat ? Not sure the temps of where you're at.

The first thing to look at is the exhaust. Make sure there is nothing blocking it. Can you hear it trying to start, the clicking of the igniter?

Check that the fan is on auto.

Wow, 62, I would love some weather like that.

Gas forced air furnace, no fan adjustment. Nothing blocking input or output. It ignites but shuts off quickly.

The fan adjustment is on the thermostat. Double check the fan speed when you are on furnace mode on the thermostat. Auto is the preferred speed for everything.

Our thermostat only gives choices for fan speeds on the air conditioning and heat pump modes. The furnace was working fine the day before.

Could be the thermocouple is bad. When the furnace lights, the flame heats the thermocouple, which expands the gas in it, and applies pressure to the gas valve, which keeps the gas flowing. If it doesn't apply the pressure in 30 sec or so, the gas valve closes (at least I think that's how it works). So there are 2 issues I know of: 1) If the flame isn't heating up the thermocouple, the gas valve shuts down. Check to see that the flame is engulfing the thermocouple. 2) If your MH or heater is somewhat older, the flame may have burned through it. This seems less likely, as the thermocouple in my old home furnace used to last several years with a pilot light continuously heating it. I highly doubt your MH furnace has that much use on it.

39 degrees here this morning in central Colorado at 8K feet elevation. Leave for Moab, UT week from Monday, ; much lower elev and somewhat warmer. Still, winter IS coming. Yuma by early November.

Boowho??

Solved the non working furnace problem. Yeah!! Before fixing furnace the Fantastic Fan also stopped working. Found out both units are on same fuse. Checked out fuse it was good. Looked behind panel pushed in corresponding wire, it was loose. Problem solved. 😊
