Tank & pump bay door struts

Any Berkshire owners added struts to the hold the tank and pump bay door open?

Not on a MH, but added struts to all the basement doors.

Thanks. Are those reinforcement pads where the struts attach to the back side of the bay door? If so what did you use?

Yes, just pop riveted to the inner door panel. I made alum plates to fit, but some folks use electrical junction block plates.

I got two of the hatch lift kits from (I hate to say) Camping World and installed on pump bay door of my Berkshire 39QS. Sure beats the stick I used to use.

I had to make the wall extensions you see at the bottom of each strut. They are brown in color and actually a piece of pressure treated 2 x 4. Everything else came in the kit including the plates OldCoot spoke of.

How about those latches. I hate those too and want to replace them. Anyone done that?

I would like to replace them with two combination cam locks but have not been able to find any deep enough for the Berkshire Basement doors. Something like this
