The PVC is necessary because the SEELevel instructions say that the metal will interfere with the sensor.
Yeah, I used some 1/8 inch pieces of rubber between the sensor and the existing metal support. According to SeeLevel CS that should be enough.
I wasn't aware that you could buy PVC stock like that, so I may do the same mod as you've done.
