I remember going to the Black Hills as a kid. Earnest you are getting me thinking about another road trip.

As I remember (it's been 40+ years since I was last there) there are 3 tunnels total, and if you're going in the correct direction, at least two of them frame the monument PERFECTLY as you drive thru. Wonder if was planned that way??

The effect is particularly stunning at night when the monument is brilliantly lit by huge spotlights.

Boowho??

Left Custer, SD early this morning and drove across he grasslands of South Dakota.... MAJOR crosswind which made driving fun, BUT the grasses in the fields on each side of I-90 looked like ocean waves... Really was pretty....

Got diesel for $2.35 a gallon which was GREAT!!!!

Head into Minnesota tomorrow to visit one of wife's high school friends that move up here over 50 years ago.... Will be staying at a brand new casino CG... Gonna lock myself in the coach....

Well I've discovered that there aren't many full hook-up CG's in MN if you get too far off the interstate.... LOT'S of little CG's with just electricity and 30 amp or no services... We move about 100 miles north for Friday / Saturday nights... Staying at RV park at Prairie's Edge Casino ($24.00 full hook-ups). lol.... Guess they figure they'll make up for it when you visit the casino....

Going into Madison Monday morning and getting ready for the FMCA rally.... Looking forward to seeing friends again. Cc

Walking distance to the casino and the BUFFET !!!!! Just had a fantastic meal for only $11.99... Morning breakfast for $5.00... I'm thinking I could just live here and save money and get fat....

Going to do a little sight seeing here with friends acting as local guides and will head out Sunday AM to get within an hour of Madison for our Monday entrance....

Looking forward to seeing friends there and in Goshen....

Only 90 miles north of Madison... Will pull in around 10 AM tomorrow and get things started.... Gonna have to replace my MH GPS.... My Magellan Roadmate cramped out a couple of days ago.... Hopefully, someone will have a "show price" on one at the rally....

Actually, the best GPS out there is a Garmin RV760LMT - it is specifically targeted for the RV crowd. Enter your rig specifications in the unit and it will route you around low bridges, switchbacks, and weight restricted roadways!

If they don't have one on show special, you could always order from Amazon and have it shipped to the CG

Packing us in really fast... We are in lot "L" and luckily in a level spot.... Don't even have to worry about using levelers... Of course, Superchief (Craig) managed to get a paved lot.... I told him he'll have to deal with all the heat from the pavement and I won't.... lol....

They think they will have about 6,000 coaches here and from the way they are pouring in I don't doubt it.... Actually starts Wednesday but I'm amazed by the numbers that are arriving in our area hourly.....

So it's time to re-title to the "adventure ends" ??

Earnest, you may be glad you got out of here when you did.... Forecast low for here in Thayne, WY tomorrow morning is 35 degrees!!! Bbbrrrrrrrrr!!

Just kidding.... The low temps are only for a couple of nights; then the lows/highs get back to the normal 50's/high 70's - low 80's. After 100+ at Yosemite for the three weeks I was there, the weather here is HEAVEN!!!

Boowho??

Well folks our. "Adventure" has taken a major detour - I have my wife in the emergency room here in Madison with a possible stroke.... Cat scan look ok but will do a MRI shortly to see what it shows.... Definitely have something going on just not sure what at the moment...

Prayers would be greatly appreciated...
