GOOD GRIEF FOLKS !!!!! The wind is blowing so hard here that I had to close all my slides and lower my TV antenna... Had a storm go through across the lake from us and we caught the wind.... WOW !!!! Talk about rocking your world !!!' Glad I was here so I could close the slides or I might have had some slide toppers ripped off....

Day 15 - Indian CG - Buffalo, WY. (Good location - next to fuel, food and freeway)
Well, we made the drive over from Cody, WY to Buffalo, WY on highway 16 today... Drove over the Bighorn Range through the Bighorn National Forest..... Beautiful !!!'m
Gentle climb up to about 9K feet and THEN CAME THE DECENT!!!!! Five 8% grades followed by four 7% grades with a bunch of switchbacks.... Totally re-affirmed my LOVE of the engine brake....
Tomorrow our destination is the Devil's Tower area for a couple of days....

Ernest, you'll be happy to know you took the EASY way across
I always assume if I take the rig that way I'll cut over at Casper then head up through Thermopolis. We were going to drive that way one year then ran short of time.
If you're going to kick around Sheridan in the toad, be sure and go to King Ropes downtown and walk out the back door across the alley to the museum. Kendrick house is interesting if you have the time. Drive past https://sheridaninn.com and say "That is a lot of dormers."
The visitor center up on the interstate has RV parking and a nice view.
As you are approaching Sheridan from the south, when you're about even with Big Horn you can look left at the mountains and see a single forestry road heading up the side of the mountain. It's a short cut to Burgess Junction, if you don't mind 32 miles of forestry road. READ: NOT BIG RIG FRIENDLY. Campers and logging trucks run it, however. Our hideaway is up that road. I may or may not have driven a rental diesel box truck down that bad boy. I think the statute of limitations has run out.
Be safe,
Gottawonder

Cajun, we have GOT to get you out of the swamps with all those gators and Spanish moss; and get you out here where God did his best handiwork.
I know, I know....... You ain't retired yet.
But scenery like Ernie posted is the "norm"out here, not the exception.
Although this is not MY rig, it's the actual spot where I set up along the Colorado River near Moab, UT (when I'm there, which I will be right after Labor Day). Second pic is a slightly different angle. I always wonder how many millions of years that boulder has lain right there without moving.
boowho??

Good one boohoo, I'm ready for it. I worked in WY & CO, I know it's beautiful up there. We were all booked up for a vacation in CO this year but we had to cancel due to my work schedule changing. But when I do make it up there I would enjoy getting together and swapping stories and having a few adult beverages.

Day 16 - Keyhole State Park - Moorcroft, WY
WOW !!!' We've really stumbled upon a true jewel.... This is a beautiful place... Had my doubts as we were entering the park BUT that quickly changed to surprise and amazement...
Going to just chill here for remainder of day and tomorrow go check out Devil's Tower (gotta look for that space ship)
Lake has pike, carp and numerous other species so I WILL wet a hook shortly....

Best way to cook carp, is to slow roast it over an open fire using a 1 inch thick hickory board, just big enough to hold the fish.
Then when it looks just right, throw the carp away and eat the board!
Boowho??
