Third Mod - Ipod Adapter for Jensen VR290TP

Ok - this might be a mini mod..

I purchased the cable and connected my Iphone 4 to the Jensen. This DID allow me to play my Ipod Tunes thru the deck and see what the artist / song was on the Jensen unit. I was also able to skip songs etc.

UNFORTUNATELY - this cable does NOT seem to charge the Iphone 4 due to some incompatibility. If it were not for this - I would rate this mod a complete success.

As it is - it was a $20 cable and plugged right in. I was able to route it out thru the black plug above the coin tray. I haven't been able to see if it would be more compatible with an older Iphone or Ipod.

Anyone else know anything about this?

Now the other downside is this just continued to expose how crappy the stock speakers are. I think new speakers in the ceiling are going to be mod 4.. They seem to be a bit of a challenge - since they are so small (only about 3" diameter) and so many (9 speakers). I'm going to look for something that keeps the stock look and perhaps grills - but sounds significantly better. Perhaps adding a subwoofer under that sofa.

Bottom line - you can't go wrong for $20..

ya there is some way ipod/phones can tell if it is a legit apple product. had a fm car thing that would charge the old ipod but the ipod touch would play music but not charge.

I had the same problem with my Iphone with a small entertainment center. My phone would not charge and gave me a incompatable component message. I looked at th end where you plug the iPhone in and there was a bunch of crud in there. Took some compressed air and blew it out. No more errors and it charges!!

I purchased an adapter from Scosche for $18 from Amazon and problem solved!

Seems Apple switched pins for Power at one point and this Jensen product was before the change,

We tested it out on the drive up and over the weekend. Again for about $50 you can plug your iPhone / iPod directly into the dash radio. You can control and see the song/artist on the radio - great deal!!
