My Gen 2 has been ok. Not great but for the most part, just ok. The problem I am having now is that when it rains, the water heater cabinet itself fills with about a 1/4 inch of water and it won't light until I wipe up the water and dry it out. Not sure how the water gets in but the bottom of the water heater has water in it. Getting to be very annoying when trying to shower and I need to go out and dry out the water heater.

What about seeing what's under it an drilling a 3/8 or smaller hole to let the water out.

Mine has two real small holes in the front corner? Maybe drill them bigger or bend the bottom down a bit so it drain to the front (door side).

There is a cabinet below the water heater. Also, drilling the holes would not stop the water from entering the water heater.

I saw that park. West of Berlin. We are right in Berlin at scenic. I laid on the air horn when we went by Berlin park. 30 min ago.

Tom I know that I've mentioned this before. I have the same issue. I did put this on my list of problems for them to look at when we are at the rally. Also get water in the lower bay compartment. Is there / should there be a seal behind the water heater cabinet where it slides into the opening?

Good question. Don't really know if there should be a seal behind the water heater. I too have it on my Goshen list.

The heater box should be sealed all around the front edges and would have been sealed from the compartment if it wasn't for the gas line that pokes through the rear panel at the bottom. On the Gen III, there is a gas line connector on the rear panel.

All I'm saying is that I'm done with Girard. I want to replace it with something that works. Something that I don't have to wrap myself in tin foil, and change my frequency while rubbing the back of my head.

I appreciate all the info given here and I've taken all the steps suggested by others. A water heater shouldn't be that difficult to get working. Hell, even when it does heat, I have to set the temp on a remote dial in a cabinet. Then in the middle of a shower, you get a blast of cold water. It just isn't right.

I have seen the long string of posts about the Girard Gen 2. I had one in our Legacy and changed it out myself for a Girard Gen 3. Wow, what a nice unit and the changeout was not bad. We just returned from several months on the road in a wide variety of temperature situations, that heater was great. Just my two cents worth.
