Has anyone tried to tint their double-paned windows??? I understand that that can be an issue if it isn't done correctly.... I want to tint drivers and passengers side windows...
Go to a professional tinting company because you are correct regarding the consequences of doing it with the wrong tinting material. It cost about 300.00 to tent all drivers side but it really helps. Havent done the other side yet.
I read a post (can't remember when or where it was), but the poster said that you shouldn't tint double paned windows because the tinting reflects the heat into the window and it can cause the seal to fail. Just relaying what I read and don't have any experience with tinting so I can't really say wheather this will indeed happen.

3M has just come out with a clear window tint that can be put on driver and passenger windows plus the windshield. Total solar energy rejected is 34%. We went to the Tampa RV show and was told about it. Window tinting film should not be put on double pane windows or windows with thermal pane.
Anyone heard of Sungard Opti-vision 45??? I just talked to a window tinting company abt tinting the front driver/passenger side windows and this is what he uses on double-paned windows.... Assured me it wouldn't cause seals to blow....
Most good tint will have all the specs which will show the three main areas we should be concerned with - Solar Reflect, Solar Absorb and Solar Transmit.... The absorb spec should never be 50% or higher for dual panes....
