The transfer switch went out after my first use in my new 2011 Charleston in June before the recall. It was replaced with a new switch free of charge. I am curious if it is the same switch. I did get the recall notice so I will take it to the service center and let them investigate. I do notice some burnt wire oders in the motorhome occasionally. I suppose I will have to take a serious look at the connections. It's good to know these issues are well documented on this forum in case some of us do have serious problems in the future.

Archie the new switch has a metal cover and is made by progressive dynamics I think it a model PG 52 but check the pictures above. I pulled the cover on mine and it looks fine. I sure wouldn't take a chance with something that could start a fire. I think I'll check mine often. But for sure have the dealer check it out.

Billy do you have a surge protector hard wired. I want to add one and thought that would be where I but it. That might be a good time to add one.

They had to bore new holes in the box rather then rewiring the wires in the rig. I do not have a surge suppressor installed, I have a portable.

What model coach do you have and were the 3 electrical wires all entering at the top of the old inverter?

I have the 2010 390bh with the iota box. I have yet to receive a recall notice. I tried to call the Forest River phone number but got a fax tone. Anyone else find a voice at the end of the line?

King wood I would think your dealer if you have one would be the contact to get it replaced. They will make you go through them anyway. You can try Matt at 574-295-2117. He is the warranty manager.

I went through my repair guy, he got the box shipped within 3 days. I also never received a notice, I found out about the recall by reading these forums.

That's not a very good system for a part that could cause a fire. I got a notice and didn't need the part.

Phil,
Why didn't you need the new switch?

Mine was made in Oct. of 2010 and the must have already started to us the PD switches. Hmmm think they new about it back then or just a coincidence? I'll give them the benefit of doubt and call me lucky.

My dealer is 300 miles away in Baton Rouge. I also have recall notifications through Good Sam but they have said nothing. There are several dealers here in Houston, so I'll call your warranty guy and see what I can set up. My IOTA box is pristine with no loose or burnt wires.

Hope things can be taken care of without a lot of driving. I know Tom has the same issue as you not having a close buy dealer. I don't trust most of the dealers out there but I feel that the place i bought my Berkshire from is honest and competent, a rare combination. Again I am lucky to have them 20 miles away.

I had purchased my Berkshire in California but I live in WA State...I took mine to the nearest Forrest River Dealer...They did a great job, and I was out of the shop in little over 1 hour. They also checked my breaker box for loose connections or burnt wires.

I did not deal with my dealer. Any repair facility that works with forest rivet in your area can handle the recall.
