Was looking at some new Berkshire XL's and....
Hi Group,
I was looking at some new Berkshire XL models and hope to get a little insight into the following.
The RV are very very nice but I noticed that on some of the RV's when the slides were in still stick out over an inch. The sales guy made sure it was fully in and wasn't sure if it needed to be adjusted or if that's the way it was. To me it didn't look right and thus the post to the FR Berk experts here. Does anyone have experience with this? It looked like the new ones were like this and a Charleston model that was a couple years old was closed flush with no gaps.
I took a bunch of pictures to look into it further. Even the Service Manager had said it was fine but I didn't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about it.

That looks like a little much. But of course they can be adjusted. The main thing is are the rubber seals incontact with the sides.

One of mine is like that and has been from day 1.... BUT the fat seal in there is fully touching so.....
If you want to make sure..... FULLY extend and then FULLY retract in ONE motion.

Asking as the D seal is touching it shouldn't leak but that is not right. I would have it adjusted.

I agree that's not right. I think the big lesson here is they don't have your money yet and they don't want to fix it ,After they get your money they won't be willing to fix anything. I would look for another dealer. Not that that Would-be a guarantee of better sevice but at-least there's a chance.

Our big slides are nearly that way, and there is no way the seals could be compressed any further than they are so they physically can't come in further. The point is to have no leaks and we've been in driving rain, snow, lots of wind and no leaks-so that's what I care about. The one you are looking at may need some further adjustment, and they certainly should do that for you as a condition you have before purchase. Otherwise, the quality of the seal is what you want to be sure of. Berkshire gives a lot of bang for the buck in my opinion. We really enjoy ours. Good luck with your looking and let us know how you ended up if you would.

Slide out adjustment
We have a 2016 berkshire XL 40 BH. .
One of our slide outs was 1/2" out.
Local dealers did not have the knowledge how to adjust.
On a trip stopped by FR plant in Indiana.
They made simple adjustments and brought in the slide out. It was one of the front hydraulic slides.
They checked all 4 slide outs and made a small adjustment to one other hydraulic slide out.
Have not had any issue since.
Suggest you have the dealer call the technical expert at FR to learn how to make the adjustment.

Probably adjustment will take care of that. On all Berkshire's the slides are not flush fitting type
