Washer Drain Filter

As I contemplate the universe this morning, and the washer right in front of me in particular, I wonder how we ever did without it. I don't miss the piles of clothes to bring, the bags full of dirty clothes, the hours at the laundramat with the screaming kids and the un-trained dogs.

And then I suddenly remembered talk here about a filter in the drain..... or did I imagine that?

Oscar,
It depends on what model you have. Our Whirlpool has a lower panel that pulls off. No handles or holes to help, but it does come off. When you have it off, you see a removable filter that you unscrew. Obviously, you'll want a cookie pan or something like that to catch the drips.

I believe that LG and Samsung also have their filters on the front.

You can look up the manual for your washer online.

OK, so it's part of the washer. I'll look in the book. We have the Whirlpool.

Thanks.

I just realized that I don't have an electronic version of the Whirlpool washer manual.
But, I saved a link to my source for information on the filter. I found out about it when my Washer threw an A10 Error code, which means it is not draining. This led me to some pictures on iRV2:

Yes, I mentioned the A10 in my writeup. There's some Youtube vids too.

Nice. Didn’t know washers had that.
