Water cooling ac units
I think we all can agree that the 13500 btu ac units standard on our Berkshire are undersized for extreme heat. We're in Phoenix awaiting a new OTD awning and temps are running in the 112°+ range. Have any of you tried cooling the units with a spray of water?

We added an 8000 btu Ac that vents out drivers window and helps a bit but all it proved to me was we need 45000 btu's in phoenix when temps are this hot. Or total shade on the entire vehicle. We live in phoenix so ... It's a dry heat my ...!!!

That's nifty. I'm stuck in Phoenix till Tuesday for a new OTD awning that I ordered from Al's RV. Supposed to be delivered Monday PM. Install Tuesday then headed to altitude for some cooler weather.

It wouldn't hurt to give it a try. Monitor your temperatures and see if you get any improvement. Make sure that the A/C unit drain is completely open and don't use much volume for the spray, or you may flood your interior.

Get three AC. At Goshen we had a chance to sit down with the powers that be in FR diesel. One of the discussions was cooling the MH. We strongly urged them to look at all aspects of cooling. Larger AC units and I feel more importantly doing a better job of identifying the hot spots and insulating them. Paying close attention to the front and rear cap and firewall. So much heat is allowed into the MH's that even 3 15000's would struggle to cool things. The engineer was interested in exploring that.
Hopefully they can make the new models more energy efficient.

The Berkshires have two 13500 btu ac units. At 115° it's no help. Interior temps in the mid 90°s.

Sounds like it's a little warm in Phoenix. I guess we'll wait a few weeks or so before we go back to Casa Grande.

Water can cause issues with the fins on the AC unit. The scale inhard water could create deposits and reduce efficiency long term. I did this as last chance once on a failing wallmount AC unit, it was in need of replacement and did get use through a tough spot.

Using a water spray and painting the hoods white, SHOULD make an incredible difference. But not being an AC expert, I could be completely wrong

I just painted my hoods white but haven't had a chance to test them yet.

They try to sell that misting system for our air-conditioners here in Arizona but I don't think I'd put corrosive water anywhere near my vehicle if I could avoid it... If you do the pressure of the pump is very critical low-pressure you're going to get water droplets very high-pressure like 300 or 1000 PSI pump for your misting system you'll get vaporized water it's very critical to get the vaporized water for the best cooling... I do have misters around my awning and pop up.
