Water Filter replacement cartridge
Has anyone found a source for the replacement cartridge (KW1) for the water filter that is less than $29.95 plus shipping? It seems that there is a monopoly on this cartridge and very few sources- and no one sells it for less.

I don't think you will find them anywhere else. These are proprietary. You might consider what I did. I replaced the entire filter housing, plus purchased 2 filters for $27.00. Filters are about $10 for 2.

Went down to my local RV dealer and grabbed one off the shelf. They don't even sell motorhomes or Forest River for that matter. According to them they are one of the typical sizes for water systems. Weird to hear your experience. Paid about $20 CAD.

I use those inline filters that attach to the water hose. 2 for 20 @ Walmart.

I got mine from Lowe's. They ran out so I ordered them from Amazon.

We pick ours up at Lowes in a two pack and have the purwater filter.

The only source for the KW1 filter is Forest River. There are a few that may fit but you can break the tabs off of the canister if you use them and then you will not be able to get a tight seal, amnd it may blow off. In a pinch, I use the 2 for 20 inline ones from Walmart, they are just simply throw aways. If you do this without a filter do not over tighten the canister because you will also break the tabs off.

Not sure exactly when but they changed the filter. As far as I can tell, no one sells them but FR and the cost is 29.95 plus shipping. It is the one shown just under the FR1HSNG (I'm sure for Forest River).
