what is that Rattle???

So I just purchased a new 2013 Berkshier bunkhouse and headed out on our first road trip. For 600 miles all I could hear is this rattle coming from the stairwell entry. Mife wife said it sounded like the mud flap banging. I told her they don't put mud flaps on the front. So our first stop I get out to investigate the rattle and low n behold theres a mud flap. Obviously to protect the mechanical step. But it seems to be very firm in place. So my search continues. Hope somebody has had this problem and figured it out. Thanks for the help.

No answer but same problem. It makes me crazy. I thought it was the awning but can't locate it.

Mine had a similar noise. It was the top of the door- the arm that holds the door open. I added a felt piece on the door jamb where the arm would fold in at rub. Try that. Ken

Also pay attention to the map lights. On both sides depending on the position of the light they rattle also. I found mine are quiet when they are pointed up toward ceiling while driving.

We had the same problem on our 2012 Berkshire. Took it back to the dealer, and he put an "L" type bracket on the mud flap, and all was corrected.

I'm picking up the MH Friday and heading south Monday so I have some time to track it down. Where did they put the bracket. Would you be able to take a picture of it. Of its in storage no big deal.

I'm pretty sure I found the problem based on others having same issue. Mud flap. Easy fix once I get home. Thanks for help guys.

The fix I made mention of before in my previous post was not an "L" bracket, but a threaded bolt that they put through the flap, and into the square channel bracket which is behind the flap. The flaps have one bolt usually in the lower outer corner. We added the second bolt in the middle of the flap and into the channel. It is the flap hitting this channel that causes the noise. I can send a picture if you need it. I would attach it to this reply, but I do not see a method on how to do it. Hope this helps.

I got under mine and drilled a small hole and pop riveted the flap to the cross iron. Worked great.

Is the rattle at all speeds?
Check your front wheel center hubcap and or the bolt caps.

Found our rattle was the screen door. Easy fix, small strip of weather strip.

I had my coach at the factory twice and complained about the noise both time and they said it was fixed both times. WRONG I took the coach out last week and had the same problem. I will check the mub flap and see if there is any signs. Thanks

Well I am driving to Nashville and yet took all of ten minutes to realize that my rattle was not the mud flap. It is out side but I can't pin it down. I guess I will teach the DW to drive so I can try to pin point Ito know it is going to shake rattle and roll but this rattle drives me nuts. It even bugs me when I take out my hearing aids.
I looked at the door and I don't think that's it.

Mine was the mud flap also. Basically there was a sheet metal screw sticking out of the stairwell and the bracket for the mud flap would bang against it when you got up to speed. Got my saw and wacked off the screw then added another screw to the mud flap which only had one. (Probably to save weight on the coach)
Problem solved. So nice with no banging going down the road. Now to stop the kids from banging.

Leave them at the first rest stop. Just kidding, enjoy the noise they produce, so soon they'll be gone and the quiet is deafening! Voice of experience here!

Take a look at the bottom cover piece on the awning. Mine is loose and I think that is contributing to the rattling.

I had a similar noise, traced it to the stairwell cover when it is in the retracted position
