What Replacement batteries for2012 Berkshire

What batteries should I get for my 2012 Berkshire 390rb-40?
It has 4 US Battery US2200 XC 232 amp hrs @ 20 hr rating. Should I get the same ones or is there something better?

I'm not much of a fan of the US2200 XC. Some of the claims US Batt have been making don't really seem to hold water.

How much space do you have? Do you do much dry camping or are you just looking to get from point A to B? Solar enabled? Residential reefer?

We've only boondocked 2 nights but we want to do more. no solar panels. The batteries are on a slide out tray that measures 20"w 14" d and could have 9 1/2" h. The times we boondocked over night we had 75% left in the batteries. so what recommendations do you have as far as batteries?

It should be current batteries are 4 each 10 1/4 L x 7 1/8 W x 11 1/4 H .

We have 2913 berk and we use 4 interstate L16 batteries with 800 w of solar panels. There are a lot of factors you have to take in account. Do you want to boondock i.e. how long, are you going to install solar panels and the list goes on and on.

Why are you changing your batteries? It sounds like they are still good, don't replace them until these are worn out. Perhaps you should be looking at how you recharge them after use, Gen, solar etc.

They are bulging and I get a low battery warning. This is a Berkshire Class A DP. It hasn't been used in a year and is always plugged into power and we want to boondock soon. I just don't trust the batteries.

Got it, time for new batteries. Make sure you get true deep cell batteries not marine deep cycle which are dual purpose. I like the interstate 6 volt golf cart batteries myself.

Shop around You can get some good buys on batteries I got mine from Sola Bill's at Quartzsite the interstate L16 cost $272 each.

After researching I just ordered the deep cycle Energizer 6 Volt Premium Golf Cart Batteries - Group Size GC2 from Sam's club. I believe they are manufactured by Johnson Controls. I'll pick them up tomorrow same output as my US 2200 XC2 $487 including tax for all 4 was too hard to pass up.

Sorry I dropped out. Good deal though.. that would have been my recommend. I would stay clear of the interstates. You don't have enough height for L16's, but if you wanted to go whole hog.. Trojan T-105's are tried and true. It's pretty hard to pass up Sam's/Costco's GC2's @ around $85-90 a pop unless you do quite a bit of dry camping.

Everybody has their opinion there is a quote to that but I will refrain from repeating it. My last two DP before FR had Interstates and not one issue had 6+ years of life out of them on the last MH would bet the current FR worldwide units won't come close to that.
Replacements were $125 each which I thought was reasonable for Interstates.
But like I said "opinions" everyone has one but keep them coming makes for a great forum confusing but great.

My batteries in my 2014 Berkshire already had to be replaced! I picked the coach up in June of 2013 and had to replace them in February of 2015! Partially due to my own fault, I was checking the water level but mis understood where it was supposed to be. Needless to say, they were under serviced and one of my batteries started to bulge on the side. It was recommended to replace all 4 if I was going to replace one so I went with the Interstate 6 volt deep cycles and no issues so far! Couldn't beat the price and the 10% military discount they gave me at the store!

I'm not saying they are bad batteries, but you're right. It's a matter of perspective. Camping on your batteries a few weeks out of the year for 6 years at $125 a pop isn't too bad, but considering the number of charge cycles and overall amp hour usage your getting... it's not very impressive considering there are other options that see 365 days a year usage with daily charge cycles lasting 10+ years.

I completely agree. Keeping things in perspective for the casual camper with a little dry campin on the side those Sam's club/Costco GC's are an excellent buy. If you only get 3 or 4 seasons out of em you're still way ahead of the curve for the cost.

Even for the occasional boondocker a set of 4 will keep your rig fed quite nicely. If you take care of them it's not at all unreasonable to get a good 5-7 years out of em.

Those RV/Marine hybrids with 40-90 ah's you generally find in new rigs from the dealer are the ones that get me. Talk about skimping..

Barely worth hauling them in for a core credit.

Last month I purchased new Duracell golf cart batteries for my Georgetown at Sam's Club. Depending on your location, Sam's Club gets their golf cart batteries from two sources. Some have the Energizer batteries made by Johnson Controls, while others have the Duracell batteries made by East Penn Deka.

Several years ago, I owned an electric pick-up truck that used 24 East Penn Deka golf cart batteries. They worked very well and had a good service life. That was before I turned to the Dark Side and bought an 8 MPG motorhome...

I just picked up and installed my energizer batteries from Sam's Club. Their ratings and appearances are the same as what was in the RV except for color. I'm happy with the money I saved.
