Where is your Berkshire at today

I have some options working. I kept the tire tread, which was intact and the inside side wall. My insurance carrier wants to inspect it to see if they have recourse with Michelin. Also, there is some consideration that Freightliner may have put undersized tires on the chassis from the get-go and may have to cover all the costs. Randy at FR is looking into that.
I have tire and wheel coverage with Progressive but they claim that since the tire initiated the event it is not covered. Don't quite understand that and plan to discuss it further with them.

Now that's just silly. What do they think tire and wheel coverage is for? I have an extended warranty and an additional policy for wheels and tires. Just wondering if they would have said the same thing.

Southern Romer what size tires were on there? And which chassis did you have the 340 or the 360? There have been others with issues and solutions on the 340 model
Edit: I see the tires are 255/80 22.5.

Were you at the International Rally in Goshen? If you were, I wish I had know that you had the 255/80's on your coach. I had one Michelin that size that I bought 2 years ago that I was looking to sell. I bought it for a spare and never mounted or used the tire. It was in my bay for that time and now that I have a '14 Berkshire, I have larger tires and I couldn't use that tire any longer.
Oh well, that's life, as the saying goes.

Yes I was at the rally and "Earnie" advised me I probably needed larger tires. So I spoke with Randy about it and he promised to check on it but never got around to it before the rally ended.
Never considered carrying a spare and didn't know that MH owners did due to weight and size. Guess I could leave the large grill I usually carry out and replace it with a spare

There's every chance in the world that he didn't even know that he clipped your mirror. Unless he was looking in his mirror at that moment, he would never have FELT a thing.

If you want to report a semi (next time) snap a cell phone pic, note the exact time/date and location (mile marker is best).

There will be a LARGE 5 or 6 digit number on the back of the trailer. It should show in the pic, but if not write it down.

If it is one of the major carriers, they track their trucks via satellite almost down to the minute. They could even tell you how fast he was going, what his RPM's were and even what gear he was in at that moment (and those electronic records are kept FOREVER by QualComm).

Finally, call the SAFETY department of the carrier and let them know what happened. If they try to blow you off, threaten to report it to the state DOT. You'll likely get a favorable resolution.

Good info thanks! We will be prepared next time. At least the damage is pretty minor. This truck wasn't a tractor trailer but more of a dingy looking large box truck with probably a not so professional driver who had little control of his truck, was acting afraid of the concrete barriers (based on his rapid serving away from them in turns) clearly shouldn't have been attempting a pass in those tight temporary lane conditions.
Virtually every tractor trailer that comes along side me seems totally in control of his rig and seems to know how to hold his line so I never worried much about them.

With coaches the size of ours, a spare is worthless. Unless you have a 600 pound impact wrench and the constitution of a 300 lb linebacker (to "wrestle" the old tire off and the new one back on).

I decided that I'm too dang old to carry a spare.... And too smart.... lol.... That's why I bought the tire/wheel warranty and roadside assistance....

I'm with you guys no way no how am I attempting to change a tire in the MH. I have all day and night and happen to have my bed with me so I will wait for the big truck and big tools to come and do it. The only reason to carry a spare is on a trip to Ak or west BFE where a matching tire might be hard to come by. I'm way to OCD to not have matching tires.

I only carried an un-mounted spare tire in the event that a matching tire is not available, as Phil mentioned above. Id I had a problem, I would call a road service and have them come and change the tire. This way I knew that I at least had the tire that would match the other tires on my coach.
