I went to best buy and bought a $99 24" led TV and then bought a $15 100w inverter from radio shack to run it. I don't believe you need to get a 12v TV specifically anymore. Technology is really moving quickly and the stuff is cheap as chips!

We bought the 24 " Polaroid (TDAE-02419) from Canadian Tire TV/DVD combo and was surprised it was a 12V TV that came with a 120 V adaptor. I think around $200.

Thinking outside of the box, maybe use your (existing) laptop for watching DVD's if large enough? Also I think you can get TV video inputs on some laptops or an external adapter to watch TV on the laptop?

get a pure sine wave inverter, the msw can produce back ground noise!

uses a lot less 12 volts
if using a straight 12 volt TV
without having to also run an inverter
= much more watching TV time
and
more 12 volt use for other things needed

Does this mean... The inverter/ tv combo uses less battery or a true 12V tv combo uses less battery?
Thx Mountianman

I think he meant using straight 12 V without going thru an inverter will require less power! Therefore battery will last longer with a 12V TV.

Think we are splitting hairs . A conventional 24" led TV draws less than 30 watts. It's nothing .

It took some searching, my wife always gives me a wierd look when I do this, but I always look at the back of the TV's when I go to stores. There are not so many brands out there any more that use a small transformer from 120vac to 12vdc, but they are out there. Last year I found a 19" RCA LED LCD TV that used 12vdc input. I happen to have several plugs that have the same polarity as the TV power input, and they have an end that goes into a 12vdc power socket/cig lighter socket, and it works awesome. Best part is, with the LED back lighting, it does not use much power and it is now an HD screen, colours and clarity are way better than the older LCD unit I had before.

After considering all the chooses, we purchased a Haier 24" LED/DVD HDTV... Even better I took it home for the official inspection and its a 12 Volt 3 amp. We also bought a 200W inverter to run it and charge phones/ radios while dry land camping. Just need to find the lighter plug too DC CABLE and were cooking with gas.
We found it at Visions $ 225 + $ 45 for a 7 year total replacement. Salesman said Rv electronics don't react to the moisture build up in the TT's.
Thanks a lot for all your help guys, we installed it last night but forgot to take pictures. I will post a follow up on a TT mod thread when I have all the pictures.

I have had good luck with Jensen 12 volt TV's. My last RV had one Jensen 12 volt and a Toshiba electric. The Toshiba went POOF. Jensen was fine. Current RV has three Jensen's, I'm happy!

I don't remember for sure, however when I was installing it I handles it with ease. My guess 4LBS... Here's all the specifications about the tv. And yes, I tried it out and looks really good. I have always found that smaller tv's look good only B/C the image is not being stretched
