12v fan installation inside refrigerator

I want to install a 12v fan inside my Dometic 2652 refrigerator/freezer. Want to tap off of the light inside. I want to attach the power to the fan to the power for the light prior to the switch so the fan stays on as long as the refrigerator is on. On the picture, does anyone know how to take the light off the side of the refrigerator? Do I remove it or can this be done without removing the light to get to the wires?

Don't have to remove it just ad a piggyback connector and plug it in.

I have same fridge and did the very same thing you are asking about. It seemed easy to pull the switch, tap into the hot wire, then put an alligator clip on the fans neg wire. To turn it on, I clip it to a cooling fin because they are grounded.

Now I'm going back to looking for my 10mm wrench! 2016 Wildwood 27RKSS

Thank you for the reply. Pull the switch out of the light fixture?

fan

I tried to install the fan on our fridge but every time I plugged it in the fuse blew outside. Instructions were clear but finally I gave up. I remember doing what you asked was not a problem but now It is gone from my head. I look at the fan sitting in my garage and still wonder why.

If you got your fan unit from rvcoolingunit.com, the wire is long enough to feed thru the hole that the sensor comes thru and wire it directly to 12v on the backside of the fridge, thats how I wired mine.

Yes, was looking at that option this morning. I don't know who it was made by, got it from my friend who didn't need it anymore more?

While you are at it I suggest you change the frig light bulb to a LED.

If not switching to an LED light, will the fan blow the fuse when the light comes on?

No, however that bulb is so hot it will burn your hand if you touch it. In my Flagstaff it was the last remaining filament bulb. All LED now, battery lasts longer and trailer is cooler!
I also installed a switch to turn off the door/humidity heating strip. (my frig did not have a switch on the panel). A big battery saver when not on shore power. We can now run the heater all night on battery. The heater safety switch disables the LP igniter unit when low battery voltage is detected, and that used to occur about 3:30 at night...BRRRRRR.

I made a fan from plastic white fence rails and two computer 12v fans with holes pulling air in the bottom and outputting at the fins. Ran wire thru the drain hole. Tales into supply wiring. Works great. Very cheep to make. Fence rail from Home Depot. Fans from Internet. Maybe $30 or less. Switch with light in front to power on or off.

X2 Add a piggyback connector to the hot side and ground to fins and switch to LED bulb.

You already removed light cover now remove hot wire to switch stick wire from fan into shovel connector. And slide connector back on switch.then put light cover back on. You do not need to remove whole switch assembly.

Why not just buy the battery operated fan from Camping World

X2 on pushing it through the hole that the sensor comes through, It looks cleaner and only takes a few minutes.

I ran mine down the drain tube. Super easy. Hooked into the 12 volt in the back of the fridge. I like this because it was a clean install and nothing will get tangled up in the wire.
