1997 Rockwood Freedom 1620 Furnace help

So I have had our tent trailer for a month now, and can figure out how to work the furnace of the the battery and Propane. The Furnace works just fine when plugged in, but only the fan works when I switch over to the battery. Anyone have any suggestions or will the furnace only work when plugged in. Thanks.......

Seems your battery is low on charge and that is why when plug-in it works fine as converter is charging battery. How old is battery, is acid level OK, did you check voltage at battery with voltmeter when furnace is running on battery alone?

Battery is brand new, fully charged. Converter does not charge the Battery, as I have a separate charger for the battery. The fan operates when switched over to battery but no heat. Haven't tried the voltmeter, but will try and get a reading.

Ok after testing with voltmeter, try without shore power and on battery alone but with separate battery charger on charging your battery, see if it works properly then.

Check with the voltmeter and was running 13.3V with nothing on and 12.8 with furnace running.

Still nothing with the charger. I also noticed the LP detecter doesn't come on when switched to battery. Would this have anything to do with it.

I would check the battery connection if connected properly, usually black lead is + (pos) and white lead is - (neg), follow negative lead from battery and it should be connected to the frame of the trailer. If connected in reverse it would explain what is happening. Also when you find connection to frame make sure it is OK and not rusted which would give a poor connection. Why do you use a separate battery charger instead of the converter charging the battery?

Thanks for your help by the way. Will check the connections. The converter that came with the trailer states it is not suitable to charge the battery.

That doesn't make any sense.
All RV converters charge the battery, unless something is bad on it.

Where does it state that?

Right on the power converter label. I switched the cables to the battery around and furnace fired up fine under the battery. The negative was white under the trailer and grounded but then split to a red wire up to the battery that I thought was positive and the the black was negative. Even had a local rv shop hook the battery up for me and check the trailer over when I bought it. Thank you all for your help. Click image for larger version

Wow, I've never seen that and I've owned two popups.
