2 ac

I have a 2018 Salem 27rei and I am looking at adding the 2nd a/c as in the Carolinas the single one just never shuts down and does not cool the bedroom. It says it is wired for a 2nd a/c but I have some questions?
1 where are the wires at?
2 will I need another thermostat?
3 will I need a ducted system or is the whole roof the duct?

You need to find out if your model came pre-wired for second AC, if YES then then the wires are in the ceiling when you remove the vent in the front bedroom, if it is duct ed in the bedroom, you should be able to tap into the ducting, again this all depends if the Salem was pre-setup for second air..

Yes you would need a thermostat that can control 2 separate air units, but that entails more, it will need a thermometer in the bedroom to read the air temp in there to know when to turn on second air!

Also do you 50 Amp service? if you only have 30 Amp then you will need to upgrade to 50 amp service, again if this had the option to add second air then you already have 50 amp!

Yes sir the unit is a 50amp service and already has a breaker in the box that is marked as a/c 2. The main a/c that come with the unit is ducted and there is a duct in the bedroom ceiling. There is also a vent in the bedroom already. I do not think that the thermostat is for two a/c units.

If you camp in warm climates, a second a/c is the best $1000 you will spend over the life of owning the camper. And if one should fail, you can still limp through the remainder of your trip until repairs can be made. JMO

Well!!! That all sounds good!!!!

Are you gonna do it yourself?
I would pull the vent cover in the bedroom to see if there are thermostat wiring, if there is... then I would also pull the current thermostat and see if the wires for it are visible. If yes to all then you are really good to go!!!
Besides shelling out some money!!!

Yep if you do a lot of camping out in the open where the sun beats down on it, then a second air will help!!! I can tell you if you keep it shaded one air is enough, I spent a week at Disneyworld in Florida, it was 92º and 45% humid, and on my old 32 Foot with a single 13.5k unit... we had no problem keeping it at 76º, tho I was in a shaded spot, no Sun ever hit the 5th wheel from Sun up to Sundown!
