a/c will not shut off

Looking for ideas on how to remedy this problem. The a/c in the bedroom does not shut off once the temperature setting (on the thermostat) has been reached. It just keeps running and never shuts off.

The fan is set to AUTO. It continues to run as the cooling continues to run and the temperature continues to drop.

Any ideas on what the problems could be?

What kind of thermostat do you have? On the wall? Or directly on the ceiling plate?

If it's on the wall & digital. set the fan setting to "Auto".

It's on the wall and the fan is already set to AUTO. I should have mentioned that in my original post. sorry.

Is it a multi-zone thermostat that controls 2 A/C's? If so, have you selected the correct zone and set that zone fan to "Auto"?

If you turn off by the thermostat and it shuts off, I suspect the thermostat is bad.

I was thinking that may be it, but was not sure. Reason being that the a/c has heat strips and when the correct zone is set for heat electric it works just fine.

It's only when using the a/c that the unit continues to cool even tho the temp setting has been met.

Also, the other zone works just fine.

Can 1 zone on the thermostat be faulty?

You can try a reset/reinitialzation of the thermostat. The manual should walk you through it.
