The Airconditioner will NOT immediately shut off when you turn the thermostat to off. it has to complete its cycle before it shuts down. Shutting off the breaker is a sure way to destroy the unit.

Yes I tured switch off. The fan turned off but the compressor will keep running and will not shut off. I am sure a cycle does not take that long. Also if the compressor is running should the fan not be also??

that is not actually true, it may apply to your unit, but most of the units I have worked on the compressor does in fact shut down as soon as unit is turned off with the stat. There may be a fan delay and there is normally a start delay to allow the pressures to equalize.
Unless his rig and yours are identical reading the manual does nothing to solve the problem.

It sounds to me that the thermostat/compressor contactor isn't breaking the compressor circuit when you shut it off. Sounds like it breaks the fan circuit but not the compressor if you have to manually shut it off with the breaker.
You didn't give any details about your system (model #, A/C size, type of t/stat) other than "it says dometic on it". Without more information about your system we are all just guessing.
Unless you are comfortable with troubleshooting circuitry and the use of meters, we might suggest a trip to the dealer or a mobile tech.

If the compressor keeps running I would assume it to be the compressor contact relay sticking and not releasing when there is no longer a call from the stat. After you have removed power with the Breaker does the uint start up as soon as you place the breaker back in the on position?

X2 with what 5picker said with regard to trouble shooting and dealer or mobile RV tech.

That would indicate to me it is a stuck compressor relay. The good news is the relay for most of these units are not expensive and do not require allot of time (labor) to change out.

What year is the unit?
Is it a digital or analog thermostat?
If it's an analog thermostat, remove the faceplate and remove the yellow wire, turn the switch on and see if the compressor still runs.

The A/C unit in my last (Keystone) trailer would never stop. I learned on the internet to disconnect the yellow wire as stated above... was told that, if the compressor continued to run, my control board was bad. It did. Dealer service dept. changed the control board under warranty and the problem was solved. Maybe only the relay was bad but I got a new control board.
