AC quit

The AC unit on my Sierra 28 quit the other day. It was running just fine, got down to temp, shut off, then started short cycling. Never blowing air but like trying to come on but not being successful.

The fan blows well and the furnace works.

I had the AC checked last year when I bought this used RV. The tech said it had hardly ever been used.

Ideas?

Check to see if a breaker is tripped, if it is not tripped, try turning the breaker off for a minute, then turn it back on.

Check the coil on the roof, it could be dirty and decreasing air flow across it and creating the issue.

I'm not sure of your model of A/C, but chances are you might have a bad start capacitor and/or a bad dual run capacitor for the condenser fan & compressor. If the compressor has over heated, it would have gone off on over load. That's a small round piece under the compressor electrical cap. After cooling off, the compressor should come back on. If its a bad capacitor, they are cheap but the labor might be expensive to install. If you are handy(with the power off), you can take off the cover and get a capacitor checker to see the values written on the side of the capacitors. That same meter should also read continuity on your over load if good. A good meter will pay for itself in self repairs. I work in refrigeration and this is a common problem I deal with repairing short cycling compressors a lot from refrigerators, freezers, a/c's, etc. Probably the compressor is not locked up, just an electrical problem.

The breaker is not tripped but reset it anyway. No Joy.

The coil and the unit is very clean

Time to check caps. I know this procedure very well. Retired Avionics Electronics Chief. I better get underway.
