AC replaced after 6 weeks

We bought our wolf pup 16bhs from a local dealer in late January. We have been in it 5 nights so far and this past weekend, the AC was not cooling. Luckily, it was cool enough out side day and night that leaving all the windows open worked like a charm. I dropped it off at the dealer Sunday night. By Monday they called to let me know that the compressor seized and they would be replacing the entire outside unit. By Tuesday am, they called to say that it ran all night and was "hotel cold" in there when they opened it. Yay for my dealer and warranty but WTH would cause the compressor to seize after 1 or 2 uses? and do I need to reinspect my roof where they had to recaulk the seal?

Awesome job by your dealer getting it done that fast for you! Truly, I'm impressed!

The A/Cs on RVs are pretty much built to be non-serviceable. Sure, a control board and some other parts can be exchanged, but the big things like the compressor equal replacing the unit.

There is no caulking when an A/C is swapped out. The only seal is a gasket around the roof opening. It's a very straight-forward install. You should be GTG!

Happy Camping!

You are probably right, silverado.
Thanks Geotex, I wasn't sure how nervous to be about the roof seal.

The 1st time we used our A/C it (Blew Up) the water in the drain pan mixed with the Compressor oil and ran across the roof and down the sides, now that is a MESS! Called (Coach Net) and they called the nearest F/R Dealer and we took it there and they (Replaced the A/C Unit)! Wasn't a (Flagstaff Dealer and wasn't our Dealer! We were on a Trip! Youroo!! USA Flag!
