Adding Wingman to my antenna

I have the Winegard Sensar antenna on my Roo 19 and Camping World has a good sale on the Wingman right now so I thought I would add it. However looking at the way the antenna fold down it appears that the Wingman would end up between the antenna and the roof not allowing the antenna to fully retract.

It is hard to believe they would design the antenna this way. Am I missing something? I presume that the Winegard Sensar is fairly common with Forrest River so I am hoping that someone has done this before with a Roo or similar trailer.

On my Silverback the antenna is too close to the bathroom skylight bubble to allow for the Wingman...bummer. I'd like to have a Wingman but I just do without.

I added the wingman to our winegard and really couldn't tell that much difference. It wasn't that big of a deal to me anyway because watching tv isn't what I really want to do when I am camping. The bracket on my winegard broke some how and I just bought a new one with the wingman attached and threw the other one away. Probably should have given it away. Oh well, we'll see how the new one does.

It lays flat. Check for about a foot of extra unobstructed roof clearance first.

added one to our old trailer I did notice the difference that fade in and out of signal seemed to disappear. Wanted to move it to our new trailer but ac was in the way. the signal you receive here stinks 10 miles from tv tower and it still fades in and out.

You need to get a jack, takes less room and you will get 3x's the stations. Clips right on after you take the bat wing garbage off. FR will soon be going to them......

As bad as I hate to say it, I agree 100% with Glenn, forget the batwing and replace it with the Jacks. Better all the way around, smaller, better, more channels, etc.

The Jack's Antenna replacement head (put it on the old mast from the batwing) is on sale at campingworld.com for $38.21.

I just ordered one with a few other things I need to get.

Finally got mine all on and working.
I had to replace the F-connectors on the coax from the Winegard booster/switch thingy and the base of the old Sensar antenna. Then replaced the coax from the base to the head of the mast. After that, no light on the Antenna but now getting 12vdc at the head. Rechecked everything then pulled it off and used a known good coax and the power supply and connections from the Antenna in the garage. Uh-oh... Still no light. DW ran it over to the local Camping World and they swapped it out. This one was good, but I still bench tested it before going back on the roof.

I just sort of pointed it towards Atlanta and set the a TV to auto program. First try, 14 channels! I never got anything at the house with the Sensar.

Just bought it. Their online payment system was "service unavailable" so I called it in. Saved $6.00 on shipping! cuz we're Good Sam members. The online payment wasn't giving us that discount.

Now he's got two honey-dos. Mount the BR TV and put this new antenna head on.

I'm curious. Those of you reporting dramatic reception improvement with the Jack, what did you replace? The plain Sensar or the Sensar/Wingman combo?

Ordered the Jack antenna will be here tomorrow hope its as good as you all say. I know it can't be any worse than the batwing i have on this trailer.

A real, working amplified Winegard with Wingman is far superior to the Jack, except for UHF reception, where they're about the same.

Flame away, but it's been proven time and time again. You need "Meat" for VHF reception.

That's kinda what I'm thinking too. Have you tested both? Since the Jack replacement head is under $40 right now, I'm thinking of buying it just to do an A-B comparison. If nothing else, I'll have a backup antenna.

In my case I can't add the wingman the antenna is too close to the ac and won`t fit. My wingard doesn`t seem to be picking up anything except whats 10 miles away.

I also had interference with the Wingman in the down position. I posted the solution I used on our RV in April, 2013 under "Reverse Wingman installation".
