Air conditioner?????

Ok we have a camper that is not 9 months old. Today it was 83 degrees with not a lot of shade. The camper was not cooling off good after about 1:00. It was almost as hot in as outside. Is this normal or should we go to the dealer about this before the warranty runs out. The funny thing is 2 other people in the campground had the same issue. We are going to the beach the end of June hope it is better by then lol.

First I would verify my thermostat settings. I goofed mine once on a camping trip. The thing ran and ran but didn't get cool. Dummy me I had it on Fan mode. It was our third time out with our new camper so there was a learning curve involved. If its not your thermostat setting I would defiantly get it checked out by the dealer under warranty.

Do you have skylights in your camper? I thought I was having issues with my ac but it turned out the skylights were causing everything to heat up and it couldn't keep up. It's a 15K. I made some covers for the skylights and now it gets cold in the trailer.

Is the AC compressor on? I would check that first before doing anything.

You didn't say what trailer you had. Is a 2nd A/C optional for your trailer? Most trailers don't have enough A/C and yes covering your skylights and exhaust fan vents will help a lot.

Yes basically you have to live in a dark cave to keep up. OP Yours sounds like either a freon or stat problem. It still should cool that really isn't hot. You can only expect a 17 degree drop from the inside temp to the air from the A/C. But if you heat gain is more, then that is what you end up with.... Two biggest complaints either to hot or to cold. That's because of the total construction process.

Yes the compressor is running. You can hear it kick off when coils start to frost over

So, the coils are frosting over and making the compressor turn off?
I have read on here that happens typically when the fan is on low.

I think we all assumed it was running all the time and still not cooling.
More details may help.

Air conditioner?????

Coil frosting could be caused by lack of air flow over the coil or low on gas. In either case, I would have it serviced under warranty.

condensate line plugged?

Hey. This is something I have encountered before, at least a few times. Make sure the condensate line that drains the water from your air conditioner isn't plugged. That will also cause it to frost up...and not cool.

Fixed the problem of the coils frosting over there is a wire that runs to the coils that when the start to frost it cuts the compressor off. Hooked it up and took care of that. Now just waiting to see how it does today. I always run fan on auto I was told that that is high

its great the MFG put that bulb there to stop icing. the underlying cause is what your after. if the door is open a lot in humid weather ect...then you may get icing. but after the coach dehumes it should go away. if the seal between the discharge and return air leaks, then cold air gets mixed in and icing occurs. that is the most common cause of frost buildup. pull the grill and check the seal between the two. shower and cook with exhaust fans on.

Interesting you say others in cg having the same problem. ........
Is the cg experiencing low voltage?
If you had a progressive industries ems you'd be able to tell.
I'd check incoming voltage!

I am just glad they are fixing it. It was actually acting up at a different cg last weekend. So I don't think it was low voltage. But I could be wrong. The my boss has his camper right next to me and his was fine. I don't know.

Yes they did replace it with a new one. He did at they had to start using a different Freon in them. He said they check a board first and if it's not that they don't recharge them. They replace it with a new one.
