Air Conditioner Fan Runs Constant

Before all say check for auto control, let me say that my control unit does not have such feature. What is weird is that the furnace is controlled through the same unit and it cycles on and off as normal based on temperature. So, my question is, can I replace my control unit with on that has an auto setting and if so, and suggestions? Here is a pic of my existing unit. Click image for larger version

When on AC cycle through the on / off button bottom center. It should go from lo to high to auto them off. That's if I remembered correctly. When in auto mode fan will only run when compressor runs.

what happens when you set it on fan & hit + 3 times? You're saying it only goes from low to high?

1)Turn it off.

2)Go to Fan, and change to auto.

3)Go to AC and pick hi or lo.

Some of the "fast" answers above are not correct. See p. 3 and p. 11 of the instruction manual.

And, I always run the A/C on "low." I found running it on "high" blows fuses. Runs fine on "low."

I had a similar problem with mine. The fan ran continually but the AC never cycled on on low or auto, only on high. It took two trips back to the dealer to convince them there was something wrong. I even had to get the manual out and read it to them. They finally replaced the AC unit. Apparently Dometic had a bad lot of units but there was never a recall because it wasn't a safety issue. Good luck!

Air Conditioner Fan Runs Constant

Please also see this note on A/C on p. 9 which is inappropriately tucked in under the "Furnace" heading:

"Note: If additional indoor air circulation provided by the air conditioner is not desired during Furnace Mode of operation, select Au (AUTO) in the Fan Mode to shut the air conditioner fan off. If Lo (LOW) or Hi (HIGH) is selected the air conditioner fan will continue to operate on the selected speed."

The key words are "select AU **IN THE FAN MODE** " Select fan speed or AU setting IN THE FAN MODE before selecting A/C (or after if you wish to change then go back to A/C mode).

LOL so many interesting comments on this technical issue! 😅 Just curious to those who say you can change fan speed while in A/C mode - what button do you push? In the model we have the instructions for here that many of us have (SZLCD), if you press the Mode button again it will turn it off or to another mode, and if you push the +/- buttons that will change the temperature.

To change the fan you go to

"Fan"
Then use the -/+ button till it says "AU".

That's what I said but others disagreed. Just curious how they are doing it. 😉
