Alternative to i-RV "entertainment" unit installed by factory

I know that many have removed the cheap, lousy, Stereo/DVD player that FR puts in many of their units and replaced with a Jensen unit.

I'm looking at replacements for my OE unit but when looking at the Jensen offerings they don't seem to have an HDMI connector. My TV has an HDMI-ARC connection and seems to work OK with the OE system except for the crappy sound and lack of TV sound when not playing a DVD. The TV speakers are even worse so I'd like a system that works just like my home TV. One connection between TV and Soundbar through an HDMI-ARC connection.

Anyone know of a 12 volt system that would make a good replacement for the POS FR is supplying. I'd even like one I can plug a USB drive into and play music from my "library" just like I can in my car.

Your recommendations are solicited.

BTW, I'm not a cheapskate so I'm not looking for the cheapest option. I DO want something that gives me a good return for my money however.

My iRV does fine, so I have no experience with replacement products. I only wished it did bluray. Haven't seen a mobile (car/truck/RV) head unit that does bluray -- tons do DVD. Oh well, probably just waiting to see if this bluray thing catches on before they spend a bunch of $$ on new product design.

Have you looked at the Jensen 90A? The form factor is off, but the specs look great.

I don't think you will. You can get blue ray/DVD in 110 volt, but I have not seen any that are 12 volt.

Nope not really. For TitanMike the most comprehensive list of devices I found was on etrailer.

There's nothing inherently incompatible with 12 VDC and bluray. Here's an example of a car audio HU with bluray.

It's rare. Indeed, bluray seems to be a 120 VAC (and it's 120, not 110, for those scoring along at home -- it hasn't been 110 since the 1960s). Not sure why it's not been readily adopted into the 12 VDC platforms. It's a weird deal.

If one of these companies could develop drop-in replacement to iRV that had bluray, there would be enough business to turn a tidy profit, I would think.

One thing you might want to look into is simply adding a better amplifier and speakers to your existing iRV setup. That would definitely give you better sound quality.

Thanks for the list. Looks like not only Blu ray is scarce in 12 units, so is HDMI.

iRV or Furion only ones I've found so far. Not sure about Furion really being a choice over iRV.
