Alternative to i-RV "entertainment" unit installed by factory
I know that many have removed the cheap, lousy, Stereo/DVD player that FR puts in many of their units and replaced with a Jensen unit.
I'm looking at replacements for my OE unit but when looking at the Jensen offerings they don't seem to have an HDMI connector. My TV has an HDMI-ARC connection and seems to work OK with the OE system except for the crappy sound and lack of TV sound when not playing a DVD. The TV speakers are even worse so I'd like a system that works just like my home TV. One connection between TV and Soundbar through an HDMI-ARC connection.
Anyone know of a 12 volt system that would make a good replacement for the POS FR is supplying. I'd even like one I can plug a USB drive into and play music from my "library" just like I can in my car.
Your recommendations are solicited.
BTW, I'm not a cheapskate so I'm not looking for the cheapest option. I DO want something that gives me a good return for my money however.

My iRV does fine, so I have no experience with replacement products. I only wished it did bluray. Haven't seen a mobile (car/truck/RV) head unit that does bluray -- tons do DVD. Oh well, probably just waiting to see if this bluray thing catches on before they spend a bunch of $$ on new product design.
Have you looked at the Jensen 90A? The form factor is off, but the specs look great.

I am looking for a replacement that would support DVD and blueray...I have found nothing appealing that does this and is 12v so far.

I don't think you will. You can get blue ray/DVD in 110 volt, but I have not seen any that are 12 volt.

There's nothing inherently incompatible with 12 VDC and bluray. Here's an example of a car audio HU with bluray.
It's rare. Indeed, bluray seems to be a 120 VAC (and it's 120, not 110, for those scoring along at home -- it hasn't been 110 since the 1960s). Not sure why it's not been readily adopted into the 12 VDC platforms. It's a weird deal.
If one of these companies could develop drop-in replacement to iRV that had bluray, there would be enough business to turn a tidy profit, I would think.

One thing you might want to look into is simply adding a better amplifier and speakers to your existing iRV setup. That would definitely give you better sound quality.

iRV or Furion only ones I've found so far. Not sure about Furion really being a choice over iRV.

When I plug in my AC gauge, I get anywhere from 113 to 124 volts! Depends on whom is running what at the CG.

Titan -- the link I posted has a HU with HDMI in and out.
I was going by the NEC. In the Edison/Tesla days, we were at 110 VAC. By the 1960s, the NEC was updated to 115 VAC. In the 1980s, it was updated to 120 VAC. People still use the outdated 110/220 nomenclature, even though it's been over 50 years since those have been used. In fact, the outlets in the new Ford trucks all say, "110 V." I guess the young football players still refer to "watching/studying film" even though they've never even seen actual film. Some terms just won't die, even if they're terribly outdated.

12 volt blu ray player
Sony makes several blu ray players that use an AC adapter. That adapter outputs 12 volts DC. if you are going to use the player exclusively in your RV then just cut the adapter off of the cord and connect the cord to a 12 volt source. Dooo pay attention to the polarity. the center of the plug is usually hot.

I’m in the same boat as you only I may have it a little worse. My IRV unit which is a little over a year old and I have lost outside speaker control, speakers inside fade in and out regardless of what’s playing. Just this past November while hunting all speakers went out then I lost radio control. This thing is a POS at best. I have looked at the Jensen radios but running into the same questions. I can’t wait to find a replacement for it. Thanks for bringing this issue up.

This is why I rip all my movies to a hard drive and use a Raspberry Pi with a linux video player loaded on it.
BTW, the Jensens are POS as well. We just use it for driving the speakers.
