Anyone using Roku or similar TV stick

Looking at maybe adding Roku or something similar to our RV entertainment package using hotspot or Wifi to stream movies, Netflix etc.

there is no reason it should not work just like in your house provided you can get the proper download speeds

Yep, done it numerous times. Does hit your hotspot allowance pretty hard. On some sites you can set the download quality (bandwidth) Netflix is one of them. Most RV parks have tumbled to this issue and often block the URLs for video streaming.

You should check, I bet that Verizon is unlimited media to the phone and not as a hotspot. My T-mobile has a 10 GB hotspot limit per month.

If that is the case you need to use a video output connector on your phone whic has an HDMI output to your TV.

If Netflix and such is your main concern you might look at a smart tv that allows screen mirroring. Most smart tv’s have Netflix as an app on them already. I got a Samsung in our tt bedroom which has Netflix but with the screen mirroring I can use my phone to mirror my Directv app and watch games on it. Or you can add a smart DVD player with apps that allows mirroring, which is what is in the living area of our tt on the OE tv.

If you have unlimited Data then there is no need to use hotspot which normally is limited to 10 Gb.
I just use my cell to stream directly to the Tv - if your tv is not Miracast (smartview) but has an HDMI port you need a 15$ dongle (amazon) called anycast, no wifi necessary.

There you go. You are all set. They can't tell if it is going to the phone or the TV. I have not had good luck finding one that works with my Samsung Note.

Assuming that you have the Note 9, you just need the Samsung DEX HDMI cable. I use this to port my Note 9 to my television in the camper.

Roku in my TT

I have connected my TV using Roku with the parks wifi and the wifi extender that was installed in my 2018 Rockwood Mini Lite 2511S. The band strength was enough for me to stream all my programs. I check the strength of the signal with my cell phone and it seems that anything 128kbps and above works well. I have AT&T and set my phone up as a hotspot and that worked well also. I do not have unlimited data so I do not go that route since it chews up a lot of data. Good Luck.

We use a ROKU premiere box and my Verizon Note 9 as a hotspot. Unlimited data and if I have decent cell data we can watch just about anything.

I am looking for a 24" to 28: ROKU tv for our bedroom. Anyone own one? A smart TV would be nice but I do prefer ROKU since I I know the box works.

Greetings We have both in our 5th wheel. Amazon fire stick and a Roku. Our cell phone is with T-mobile. We get unlimited everything plus a hot spot. Unlimited. T -mobile has a cell phone plan for seniors it call the 55 and over plan. For 2 cell phones unlimited everything for $60.00 a month with automatic billing plus it works in International cities. We just got back from Athens Greece cell phone worked everywhere we went check it out.

We were in Greece as well and love T-mobile. everything still works but voice calls are only $.25 per minute. Data and messaging work for free.

However, you only get unlimited ON THE PHONE, if you read the fine print, HotSpot is a max of 10 GB a month and then they throttle it back to 2g which is like sucking data through a straw. 10 GB is good for at least 3 or 4 movies per month, especially if you set Netflix back to low bandwidth.

T-Mobile is great, but not free. The prices change by the day, but TODAY you get..

For $55 a month you get 2 lines and 3 G in the US and 2 G in Mexico and Canada

For $70 a month you get 2 lines and 5 G in the US and 4 G in Mexico and Canada

For $90 a month you get 2 lines and 20 G in the US and 5 G in Mexico and Canada (Netflix)

Who knows how much you get in Europe

We always bring a Firestick so the DS can watch cartoons while he wakes up. Hotspot to one of our phones (Verizon) with no issues. Never had an issue with data limits either, but we do still have to older "truly unlimited" plan.

It's also come in handy for really rainy days after we've played all the games and such we keep in the camper.

For a small extra monthly fee, you can increase the hotspot max number. It can be cancelled at any time, with no penalties.
We plan to use this option, when we head south in February, for 3 months.
Call T-Mobile for the specifics. We have the $60 55+ Plus plan.

I use Roku and Apple TV I stream through my connect 2.0 with no problems with OTRmobile as the provider unlimited data. I also use it for work so I have to reset my system Once a month as I am using a lot of data especially with the HD movies I’m downloading lol. But other than that it works great I can share. Y computer screen for meetings with head office and Skype with no complaints.
