Blue Refrigerator Lights

Anyone else find the blue lights in the new Renaissance refrigerators annoying? The wife has to use a flashlight to distinguish food items. The blue light makes everything look black.

YES!!!!!!!!!!! We have them in our Rockwood and I really tried to warm up to them, but they are HORRIBLE! We have no idea what we are looking at when looking inside the fridge. Most vegetables are indistinguishable under that light and we hate it. FR...WHY????

The dealer contacted Dometic Customer Service regarding replacement for the blue refrigerator light in our 2015 8289WS with the Renaissance Refrigerator. Dometic indicated that they received several complaints about the blue light and their engineers have now devised a white light replacement which they mailed to me at no charge. Dometic Customer Service can be reached at 574-294-2511 for anyone interested.

Replacement is two small Phillips screws and two electric clips. Five minutes tops.

They'll want your refrigerator model # along with your name and shipping address. My refrigerator is the Dometic DMR702.

Best of luck.

Glad to know the lights can be changed to white.

When I called Dometic this morning however they indicated they must be installed by my dealer and would not mail them to me.

That isn't true, at least for Canada (which is generally more of a problem than for you 'Murricans). I just got off the phone with them and they are sending the white light kit out to me, no charge and no hassle - being shipped by Purolator from Brantford.

They got an internal email about this that the rep I spoke to had to find.

The rep even agreed the she didn't think she'd have liked blue either

Excellent customer service... Kudos to Dometic. An experiment gone wrong but they're stepping up if someone wants to have it fixed.

That's great. Mine installed easily and works great. We can actually see what's in the refrigerator without using a flashlight.

Great information. When I first saw the blue lights I thought it would be cool, but after a few days that got annoying. Just called and got my replacements sent out today. That fist wanted to change me $14.95 for lights and $4.95 shipping, but after talking to them they agreed to no charge for light kit or shipping.

As others have said thanks for the info I'm going to call and get the kit. I also found that at first it seemed neat (something new) but quickly became annoying as the blue washed out the natural color of the labels on items.

Thanx all for the info on the replacement light module. We, too, had the gawdawful blue in the DMR702 of our 8528IKWS and can't believe Dometic thought this was a good idea.

Anyway, based on previous posts I called Dometic CS and requested a white LED module. The very young sounding lady I spoke with wanted to charge me retail cost plus $15 shipping to which I cited them having provided them gratis to others in the past. A couple of rounds of "I'll have to check with my supervisor" got it gratis and no shipping. That was over 2 weeks ago and I was beginning to think I had been gaffed off until UPS made a delivery yesterday afternoon. Looking forward to replacing the module before our next trip and not have to look at black lettuce, etc.

Great forum, thanx to all.

Pay close attention to how the wires are run when you pull the led board and route them the same way or the board will not fit correctly in the fridge. Guess how I know this!

Replaced mine last year and like most had to get a bit stout with them but I did get the light free and no shipping. Easy to replace just pull one plug put in new board and so forth. Later RJD

Then down to 12 then down and down.

Waiting, waiting. Down to one ....then no music ??

They hung up ?? Called back......

They close at 4:45....asked why they make people wait, then hang up on them....she said "I don't make the rules". .........RUDE.

I called early in the morning and they were very nice to me. They shipped the replacement board out that day. I had no wait on the phone line.
