Broke Dometic Brisk Air II

I purchased my 371 REBH 7/1/15. Got to campsite 7/6/15. Little less than 2 weeks later and main 15k AC stops blowing cold air. I paid 160 to have a mobile tech come out and officially diagnose is which my warrant won't cover which I know that but was easier than getting hotel and paying pet deposit just to bring it in for diagnostics since I'm still in the middle of my trip.

Has anyone else had pre mature failure with a new unit? My pregnant wife isn't very happy and obviously I wish it would have last at least this year. Just looking to see if this is a fluke or if I'd be better off buying something like this for back up: http://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-MM14.../dp/B00B2BT9J4

Yeah that one does. It also doubles as a dehumidifier but as a back up or supplemental AC which can also be used at home I think wouldn't be a bad investment. Curious if anyone has utilized such a unit.

I have that unit on my brand new FR Hyper Lite 29HFS. My AC runs, has 117 volts ac and pulls 13 amps it will not cool my trailer unless you consider 82-85 deg cool in central Texas. Also air flow is terrible out of duct registers. Do you have the 7" round ceiling discharge ones that have half the grill pointing one way and the other half the other ? If you have them pop them out and it will increase your airflow. Not a permanent fix , but it might help you out till Forest River finds a solution. What did you find out about your Brisk II ?

Yes I have the same vents and air flow isn't good at all. From my understanding in 90 degree dry weather the AC should be pulling 15.9 amps. I was thinking about adding some sort of piece to deflect the air and tape the hole.
Dometic sent a local company a new one. Came in a day and a half and lucky for me the shop can put it in tomorrow.

Specs say 13.2 Amps at 115V. http://www2.dometic.com/dc0efb6a-748...1e5780a8.fodoc

Was your AC loud ? mine is so loud you can hardly hear the TV. The TV is mounted almost under the AC unit. If you pull the registers off and reduce the restriction mine is not as loud. I have been looking for a solution and it appears the vent manufacture makes a better vent that is adjustable and you can close off the vent so you can have more airflow where you need it. FR needs to find a solution.

Can you have the AC guy check the current draw after it is fixed and post it please?

A hot RV is no fun during the summer, especially if your wife is pregnant. Hope they get you fixed up.

I think you have to add the fan and compressor.

specs are just for compressor. Mine draws about 18-19 amps when fan is on high. Had to replace the unit when just over a year old. Apparently they fail quite often. I paid $500 for a new one and put it in myself

Ya I was about to pay for it myself luckily I found a good company locally that has gone out of their way and got me in right away where as most places put me on the 3 weeks line.
